This is an observation I have made and have been wanting to post for a while. I know utd can do with a signing or 2 or 3. One thing I have noticed that irks me is the constant agenda by the media/pundits to link every English player to Old Trafford. While this can be fun for some, it annoys me as it is lazy journalism. This pundits never actually consider how the player will fit in at utd but always appear so desperate for the English player to join utd and are quick to say he is the type of player utd should be signing
It happened with magdire and awb among others both have had relative success so far. It happened for a while with Kane. Now Dele Alli appears to have fallen out with jose i am already hearing murmurings trying to link him with utd. All these players are good players but that those not mean utd should be signing them.

Maybe because we actually have a track record of signing English players for big/biggish sums?
Rio, Rooney, Shaw, Hargreaves, Carrick, Jones and like you said, AWB and Maguire?

no
magdire is a good player but he was the wrong signing for utd given what we had
awb again is a good player but not the signing a club who are expected to be taking the gameto the other team in most games
