So the refs are being told to be more

lenient to the hand ball rule, after we got denied a 3 points on Sunday?

They didn't do it before that game, no they waited until we got hard done by to start thinking of this?

I also think they should change the rule where if you raise your hand to an opponent in the vincinity of their face, it is an instant Red. No Ifs, No buts.

Football is played with the feet, not with the fists.

Holy crap. Was he even booked for that?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
think he got a yellow but then banned for some games for violent conduct?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

So why is being discussed here by Liverpool fans?

Why wasn't Mane red carded after punching Tierney or the incident not even reviewed or ban given?

It's an absolute assault when a player moves into another player where there is a gap between them and raises the hand in a fist manner and unleashes his hand into the face of the other player?

Where in the hell is this not a RED card and nor reviewed by VAR and not reviewed by the panel?

ffs If someone did that on the streets, they'll get arrested!
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Firstly - just to get it out of the way. The claim that doing x woild get you arrested on the street is a completely pointless claim because x happens on a football pitch and not on a street. Slide tackling into someone could get you arrested on the street but is perfectly acceptable on the football pitch. Punching someone in the face would get you arrested in the street but in boxing ring it is acceptable. This is not a compelling or even reasonable argument.

Secondly - yes Mane could easily have seen a red card. He didn't. The incident will have been checked and deemed that the refs response was proportionate.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are talking as if the referees apply the rules consistently to all clubs, they don`t. That has been proved time and again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Yes,and as an aside, this is one of the reasons for the stricter handball laws. So that there is more consistency.

Mane could have seen red, but didn't. Vertonghen could have seen red, and definitely should have seen at least yellow, for poking Firmino in the eye. He got neither.

You cannot have it both ways. Either the refs get more leeway and it is more inconsistent, or we make things more prescriptive like the current handball law.

If referees were consistent in Billy's mind, then myself and welshpool would be unhappy at the referee's decisions.

I think that's a fair comment. I guess for me things about consistency is having a reasonable idea of what the outcome should be based on previous precedents.

Which of course is reasonable, but I think the big issue is fans who don't accept that their interpretation of a particular incident is not the only valid one.

We're all biased to some degree, which doesn't help, and no two incidents are the same - so it has to come down to a matter of opinion in most cases.

it sure is. but because we know a lot of the posters way of thinking on here we know how they'll side on certain issues. it's more what they want then what they think. sandy for example would take two exact same fouls one against liverpool and one against any other team. which one gets the red?

Vertonghen knew Firmino was there so not looking is a pathetic excuse. They were jostling for the ball so he is aware that Firms is there and he still threw his fingers at head height, putting at least an inch of finger into Firms eye!
