Two questions for discussion

After 38 games I still expect it to be us and City at the top with a significant gap to the rest. Freak result yesterday and hopefully the kick up the backside our players have royally needed since lockdown finished. Far too much arrogance and complacency.

Missed a lot of players yesterday, Hendo, Alisson, Thiago, Matip, Mane. Hugely important players for us this season.

Yeah I agree.

Jota is good but Mane is ridiculous and not having him yesterday was a blow, even though it was your defence most at fault.

I think we can have a good season especially if we get a deal for a new CB done. Competition looking strong snd Aurier looking decent now that he has a rival for the RB spot. I still have doubts over our defence and it needs strengthening. We have done good business over the window though for once.

Alisson is massive for Liverpool, kinda gone under the radar to Van Dijk but id say theyve had similar impacts.

If you with we can put our a 2nd string team of:

.........................Hart

Aurier......Tanganage.....Toby.......Davies

.................Winks......Sisokko.................

Lamela............Bergwijn..................Lucas

......................Vinicious........................

Then i think we have a pretty good chance of winning any of the 3 trophies we are in.


Its unlikely that lineup will ever start, may be in the Ropey league groups, but where we can rest and rotate key players, it will see us being stronger in the latter stages of the season when the cups are up for grabs.

We saw yesterday that Lamela started and was very good, but Lucas also came on and was a threat and both these guys behind Bale now.

You can hardly say you are missing Thiago, has he actually played a game yet? And what it does show if your squad is not that deep. Miss a few key players and your team collapses like a pack of cards. Liverpool have been lucky last couple of seasons that all their key players have not been injured.

Aurier is 1st team as it stands mate, cannot be dropped after yesterdays performance. Doherty will have to fight his way back in.

Also Dele plays in the 2nd string.

Lamela is a utility man. Cant get too worked up on him, hes done very well in two big games now but hes pretty pointless in games where we need to break down the opposition and he will get injured randomly sooner rather than later.

Liverpool had Henderson, Mane and Allison for the Leeds game, and still shipped three goals, so you can hardly say the warning signs were not there.

Lamela sets the tone for our pressing, then others follow

One thing you'll notice watching us is that our midfield is now much more key to the way we are playing. We didn't sign him and the midfield to carry the same role as it did with three workhorses in the middle like we had last season.

Getting used to this new way of paying without the player that will be most important to the style is one of the reasons we were cut to shreds yesterday.

We were also missing Alisson who is vitally important for us, and Mane, and Matip and our captain.
