I've just said well done for posting and it's a shame people there in Rennes are unhappy about Raphinha's leaving but tough luck, money always talks and we're happy he's come to us. Oh and good luck. Entente cordiale and all that.

And yes, there really isn't much dosh in club football in France, it seems, except for the big clubs like PSG, Marseilles and a few others. Lorient would have been dead chuffed with getting 5 mill for Ilan Meslier, for example - and yet French football has been producing some very good quality players for a long time and the national side always does pretty well.

Bonjour, je suis supporter rennais, sorry d’écrire en français, mais mon anglais is really poor !
Des précisions quant à Raphinha :
- Son départ n’est pas une question de besoin d’argent, Rennes est sain financièrement.
-Le joueur, déjà à son arrivée l’an dernier, affirmait ne pas avoir vraiment voulu rejoindre Rennes, et rêvait de PL.
-Sa décision a pris de court le club, après le dernier match de Rennes dimanche, on a pu voir une discussion sur le terrain, entre lui et notre entraîneur ainsi que certains joueurs dont Camavinga, visiblement surpris, et en train de le convaincre de rester. Mais Raphinha préfère la PL, le salaire à la Champions League.
-Les supporters rennais sont déçus surtout du timing, car cela laissait trop peu de temps pour le remplacer.
Sur sa valeur sportive, c’est plus partagé, il est parfois totalement invisible dans un match, mais aussi capable de beaux gestes. Mentalement fragile. Il a du mal à dribbler (son seul dribble, c’est vers l’intérieur).
Le vrai regret, donc : les conditions de son départ, qui ont perturbé notre mercato.

That French quote seems to differ from the majority I've heard, saying he is pure quality and a match winner.
That him leaving has meant that they now cannot get a quality replacenent to fill his boots.

I’m over at the east coast later this month.. will save the craving till then! Sullivan’s fish and chips in hornsea... better than anything, absolute scenes looking out on the sea on a cold, fresh, but bright October’s day!
