Just reading that United have registered their 25 man squad for the CL.
Romero, Rojo and Jones have not been registered while the likes of Greenwood are apparently on a B-list. Home-grown youth players dont have to be registered to play. Pellistri has also been registered suggesting he could have an immediate role in the first team.

Best for all parties to terminate his contract
---------------------
Still can't believe we gave him a four year contract last year, with the option of another year. Still contracted until June 2023.

Jones is a crock. Even when fit, he is no longer usable.

He has averaged 24.5 appearances per season for us over his 9 years.

Surprised Romero is in instead of Grant no that either will play.
Possibly punishment for his wife’s comments?

Isn't that to do with the need to have three keepers registered and for 'home grown' purposes it's advantageous to use up one of the home grown slots when you can. Or is that the PL?

Feel sorry for Romero, never let us down, or complained, at least publicly

His missus has.

Romero will be gone by the time the domestic window closes I reckon.

I hope so. He deserves to get regular games elsewhere.
Apparently United want a fee for him, though.
Which is annoying his wife.

Just 20 PL appearances in the last 2 seasons.
Apparently he is on £75k a week. That is £15.6m over the course of his contract. No-one is ever going to risk paying him that much anywhere else with his injury record. Nor are we going to be able to sell him for a decent fee due to his injury record.

i think someone (still) needs to sit ed down and explain to him that the whole asset/liability thing he learned at accountancy school doesn't work in quite the same way for footballers on lengthy contracts as it does for land/factories/intellectual property.
Because some of the rumours I hear about our failed transfer dealings suggest that he still doesn't quite get it.

Many of Ed's failings stem from the fact he isn't a football man. SAF has often mentioned how important it was that Martin Edwards was a football man and cites it as a reason as why they worked so well.

Have tbh I think letting him go for a free would annoy me.
He is a good keeper and we should have been looking for a fee imo
