RBW, picture the scene. Mainland Europe conquered, the Soviet Union still working with Germany. Would the UK have held off an invasion forever?

never wanted a war with the british empire, or wanted to conquer britain

As you are well aware of Hitler accepted that he was never going to invade the UK after the BoB. A lesson learnt from Napoleon. And also it was never really in his heart to do so. So he finally ordered his generals to direct his resources elsewhere in mainland Europe. And yes, was (more) keen on destroying Soviet Russia. But his disastrous Russian campaign didn't 'save the UK' as you suggest.

There is no way the UK could have stopped a fully focused German invasion. Sure, they would have held off for a while but eventually it would have been overcome. Mainland Europe was conquered by that point.

let's be honest here, it was the soviets and the USA that won WWII

when it was britain, france and the commonwealth allies vs the germans...there was only gonna be one winner

the germans were piiiiising all over the allies until hitler turned east on russia and the jaaaaps bombed pearl harbour

I didn't know he 'saved' us, i thought it was those millions of soldiers who actually fought inc those ones of colour that were thrown on the front line by that man himself to come back and be treated like chit, but anyway...another thread.

Understanding the concept of galvanising national spirit is beyond Robb. He has no problem burning the flag after all....

It’s just a flag. There’s nothing wrong with galvanising National spirit - and of course Churchill did that very well. But that doesn’t mean he’s immune to being held to account for his abhorrent views and actions.

If you weren’t around at the time to give context you can’t really judge a persons actions or character when it’s skewed by decades of political and cultural development.

They were never invading regardless of what happened with Russia. They needed control of both the sky and sea to have any chance of a successful invasion, and had neither at any point during the war.

Pretty much every historian agrees it would have been a disaster for Germany had they actually enacted Operation Sea Lion.

My degree isn't in Modern History so I don't claim to be an learned expert in this field, like you obviously are. Although I did get a B at A Level history.

My final say on this is that I am sure the Americans, (who used the UK as a floating hotel for its military after the BoB up to 1944, would have had a say much earlier if that was hypothetical case.

But it wasn't.

Obviously Robb, if the Germans overcame all (Western Europe, Russia and the American military in the UK and had actually won the war, the UK would have been conceded in some way.

And with the weasels in the Tory party at the time who had no fight in them, (of which Churchill was almost alone on not being) Hitler was keener for a negotiated surrender of the UK after the war rather than him having to destroy it completely by carpet bombing the heart out of it. Which he knew was almost impossible anyway, due to things like Spitfires, The Royal Navy, The English Channel .... and the 'British resolve' of which Hitler and Napoleon were both very wary of, which we know you as Brit hating Australian probably find very amusing. (We laugh at you lot, too.)

Cases are higher in numbers than at the "height", which makes the second wave the height of the pandemic..

Love these misinformed articles. A lot of countries are in the second wave with higher number of cases than wave 1.. Which was predicted this would happen.
