Andy Burnham

Leader of the opposition!

He’s on πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

No Teir 3 without proper financial support.

Why are people making this a Labour thing? He has support from Conservative MPs in the area. People say they’re sick of this being about ‘politics’ but the reason politicians are elected is to do the best thing for their people and I doubt the people would want their mayor to just sit back and allow their economy to be trashed without proper government help.

It’s Manchester now but this type of helping people on the cheap is coming to a city near you.

Why should Manchester get a better deal, than Liverpool or Lancashire. Then,y thing Andy Burnham is interested in is Andy Burnham.
Making the virus in to a political footbalmis disgraceful

Jesus Christ, talk about completely missing the point.

The deals aren’t good enough FOR ANY REGION.

Every region should take a leaf out of Manchester’s book.

Labour are forcing a vote later, so we’ll see what the Tories really think of the regions.

So much misinformation being peddled about this situation (which appears to be emanating from #10/Cummings).

Following a consultation with the 10 councils/business representatives GM calculated it would need circa £90m to sustain the GM area in light of the T3 restrictions.

I believe GM representatives have yet to receive a formal documented offer from the government - albeit £60m has been mooted.

The government have used per head of population as a metric to calculate their support packages. Which as many business leaders have pointed out, is a fundamentally flawed methodology. As the figure should be based on the amount of people/families who will not be able to live/survive on two thirds of their salary.

However the Government has tried to change the narrative and make the issue about Burnham, and avoid discussion on those (already in dire straits) who will suffer the most without Government support.

No 5hit

He is a well-known, Trade Union supporting lefty, surviving from the Old Skool of Blair's New Labour.

He's fair game and still well in the sights of the Tory faithful's rifles.

No, but then it’s on record who voted against helping the most vulnerable.

Already talk of Tory abstentions, their constituents are watching....

I’d like to see Mcr businesses carry on as if tier 3 wasn’t a thing. And other councils make it difficult for the government too. The regional lockdown system is poorly thought out, there is no evidence it will work any better than the governments world beating track and trace feck up, and economically it’s going to screw thousands of people across the country as the financial support doesn’t even touch the sides. Hancock the vapid weasel and his cronies can go feck themselves. Clueless.
