Ozil saga

Didn't put this on the Arsenal board as I am genuinely curious and not wumming.

What the hell is going on with him and the club?

I have to say a player of his calibre being chit is unbelievable.

Not really. Think Di Maria and Alexis Sanchez at United.

Fair enough albeit different circumstances and dealt with.

Adm wasn't that bad but obviously wanted out and sanchez tried just bought at the wrong time

Ozil didn't do badly overall from what I saw of him, which won't be as much as arsenal fans obviously

It was more that a player of that calibre can be so bad. Ozil’s been on their level of shiiiiiit for a while now.

I never thought he was that bad tbh. But again I never watched a lot

Sometimes I just saw him getting blamed in the way pogba is. Essentially the price tag and wages

And sure pogba has bad games but is played out of position and had a chit show around him in Pereira etc

I’m sure WB2 will give you the lowdown.

Its a lot of things. The China thing probably upset the suits, but Ozil and his agent are using the humanitarian side for good PR and to get people on his side.
There is also the pay cut thing. His performances. The squad is full (Sokratis also left out).

Lots of reasons really.

It's clearly because he a showed support for the uighur muslims in concentration camps in China. Comments which the club were quick and eager to dismiss as not their own before they lose any money.

Footballers aren't chucked out of a squads completely because they don't like tracking back sometimes. Laziness isn't an issue. Professionalism? Has a coach ever complained about Ozil stay out all night partying and drinking, turning up to training late or disrupting a dressing room?

His recent social media post about highlighting injustice is also a clear indicator that all of this is about him speaking out.

He's done more running than Pepe has. I think the issue is that he is a number 10 that has been asked to do the job of a box to box midfielder so his performance suffers. Saw a stats that the more he had to drop deep the less of his assist output. Also, with the way Arsenal are set up now, there is no place for him in Arsenal's system. Xhaka was pretty bad before this tactical change by Arteta has brought in improved performances.

The thing about his professionalism seems odd with what people (players, coaches) past and present said about him. I think it is a combination of a few things.

Yes, his wages, his stance on China, refusing a wage cut (that didn't save jobs yet Arsenal went out and spent a lot of money), his offer of paying for gunnarsaurus, and ultimately refusing to be sold off to some Middle Eastern club. Now its all about not paying him any of the extras that would go towards his wages. I wouldn't say its one thing. And I doubt it's all down to just Arteta. It's a way for the club to push him out.

Superb example of confirmation bias.

Ozil has probably hired some PR people that worked for tobacco companies to make him a cult heroπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚
