Iโm watching the (epic) AFL final now and the ground is 100% full and quite surreal to see sports with a full crowd again. Seems a shame that fans arenโt being allowed back in stadiums against the UK. I understand the covid situation in Australia is different to the UK but in Europe fans are allowed back in stadiums again, albeit at something like 25% capacity.
The other day I saw a news report of somewhere indoors in London - I think the Royal Albert Hall and they allowed a pretty large number of people into an indoor event. Surely spaced apart fans at football grounds outdoors would be doable.
Anyone think itโs a bit of a croc that fans arenโt being allowed in again? Just have them wearing masks and be at something like 3/4 seats apart.
Should fans be allowed back in stadiums?

Queensland covid figures are less than a housing estate in parts of the UK
Any idea on how the 30k were selected or if tested before travelling?
Cracking game BTW

Shugsmeister ! I’m shocked you watch AFL. More people should. The purest of sports.

I'm quite cultured like that m8... Its a great watch, brutal physically, great tv
Channel 4 used to screen it in the 90s, which gave me an interest and its on bt sports now
I've a good friend from Melbourne who is a Richmond member so I've always leaned that way... That Dustin Martin strike at the end of the 2nd quarter was vital... They'd been battered during that period.

Ah sweet, I think I used to watch it on one of the UK subscription channels. If you get get a chance you should go to Melbourne and watch a game. Never seen anything like it in terms of passion - from both male and female fans sharing an excitement for the same sport.
And yeah Dusty was great. What about that KO in the 4th? Double whammy.

Brutal... Hopefully nothing more than concussion, impact from his team mates head and the ground
First my youngest daughter has ever watched... She's on YouTube now searching AFL biggest hits compilations ๐

Ha, there have been some king hits over the years. How surreal was it seeing a full ground?

Yeah, I thought just a tiny bit more of a spin in mid air and he could have landed on his neck and broken it. Was very very lucky.

30k so not quite full... Although it looked it on tv
They've held the entire season in a "bubble"? A bit like the europa and CL finals
Was that the first with a crowd
I'd be interested in how the fans travelled and if tested beforehand... Queensland figures have been tiny for covid. I doubt they'd risk it without strict conditions in place

It was 50% capacity before the final. Some fans were already in Queensland. Some went via the NT and quarantined there. Same with South Australia. Bit of a mission but worth it to get to the Gabba. Now I’d imagine they’re tearing up Brisbane. If the rain facks off.

I think not, but this makes barring fans from open air venues look ridiculous
