We have achieved nothing!

lets not get carried away.

YES the squad is strong but we are not even in the top 10 despite having a relatively decent opening fixture list.

I'll start judging our progress after 10 games. Let's see where we are in the table.

I'm fully behind the team but let's not start pretending to ourselves that in terms of points we are doing anything remarkable.

Hopefully more to come but anything less than a victory tonight would imply we haven't really progressed as much as people think despite having a powerful squad.

I always track points per game and don't get drawn into romanticism of the team. We need to be averaging 2 points per game before we can be considered to be performing to our capabilities.

It’s after the Christmas fixtures when you can make a better judgement.

For now, all we can do is win the next game, starting tonight.

Fair point

I do happen to think five games is too small a sample size though, especially as our fixture list has been quite kind
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Palmers I don`t think you can say a fixture list is kind these days. Is going to play away at say Brighton any easier than going to Old Trafford. The division is all much of a muchness now, and without crowds it levels up games bigtime.

I expect Spurs to win tonight, but then I expect Spurs to go to Anfield and win. No crowd, what is there to be bothered about?

overall the results have been poor. 2 points from everton Newcastle and west ham at home is rubbish. but the performances have at least been encouraging going forward.

individual errors, stupid free kicks, and shoddy defending, is as usual holding us back from doing anything
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You have to balance that out with the two wins at Southampton and United, where Spurs got zero points last season.

Early season to be panicking about a few dropped points, performances have been good, and the home draws will soon be turned into victories.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
sandy we wont achieve anything if we back up good results with poor results... need consistency. LWDWD is not good form
----------------------------------------------------------------------

They could soon turn that into WWWWWWWWW. Early season form from most teams is always a bit patchy. Spurs are not out on their own. But Spurs should now start to string together the wins in the Prem.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Could also turn into DDDDDDDDD or even LLLLLLLLL when teams start attacking your fragile defence.

Sometimes you just don't think before post. For the last 2 seasons you've been going to win the PL with games to spare and have continuously gone backwards.

Your best chance of winning the PL was when Leicester won. Enjoy your next 60yrs of obscurity while the genuine big teams of the PL continue to progress.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Our fragile defence, have you had a look at Liverpool`s car crash of a defence lately, it`s one of the worse in the division this season.

Yes the lack of crowds has opened things up a bit. Teams don’t appear to have any advantage playing home now. I certainly think however that Newcastle at home is a kind fixture and we should have been winning that.

At this stage of the season it’s difficult to determine how good teams are (other than Fulham who look rubbish) but two points from our three home games is poor nonetheless.

Lack of home field advantage doesn't make the away team suddenly a good side. Spurs should be beating sides like West Ham and Newcastle whether they're home, away or neutral.

Signs have been positive performance-wise this season, but results have been middling. It remains to be seen if Mourinho can marry up both results AND performances, because thus far at Spurs it's never been more than one or the other (frequently neither).

This squad appears formidable but our points per game average isn't.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Spurs have only played five games. Is City, Arsenal, Chelsea or United`s points per game good either. Even Liverpool have dropped five points in their first six games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
exactly... so we have, as usual, missed the chance to kick on with all our rivals stumbling.

instead we have been stumbling as well dropping stupid points and then tell ourselves its ok because everyone else has been too.

that's the wrong mentality. we should have 4 more points than we do now, with a win tonight taking us top.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Agreed, this is key. Some fans console themselves with the performance of other teams.
