Not a bad start after all

I have noticed that since Everton, we have been going along nicely so I checked the form table, and we are second in the form table for the last 5 matches and we are the only side not have lost a game in the last 5 games, i.e. unbeaten since opening day game.

Aston Villa 12 Pts
Tottenham Hotspur 11
Everton 10
Leeds 10
Southampton 10
Liverpool 10

Not bad a start, when you think that after 1 game, the pundits were writing us off

Note; The best goal difference with +9 goals too.

embarrassingly desperate?
what? your attempt to put down any comment or article that spurs fan create to put a positive spin on their club?

maybe, just maybe, the idea was looking at how the club has done AFTER the initial defeat on the opening day?

Thanks mate

Don't mind them, they are liver fools

because the season is just 6 games old and as stated the form table is typically 6 games so the league table is the form guide

But enjoy being second in last 5 games form table

Before we get carried away, do we not think there's a slim possibility that our early form, particularly the 1-6 and 2-5 drubbings, are down to us having played a lot more games than the others owing to the EL. We were fitter. That should have evened out now. I don't think we should be using a 6-1 victory at Old Trafford as the average marker for our effectiveness against the top 6.

That's said, we've defo improved a lot. We're keeping the ball better than we were, although avoiding the long punt upfield might have been a tactic against Burnley. We know we can't win playing that way against them. Onwards and upwards though. Steady improvement all round. It was boring yesterday but I enjoyed seeing us dig in and not concede for once.

This is my worry, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue unless it causes a burnout

Shouldn't be an issue with the squad we have now. We can go to Belgium midweek and have Son and Kane on the bench and still win. They're the only two players you'd rotate and expect a drop in performance. Everyone else is pretty much like for like. At this stage we can afford to rest them in the EL. That will change in the knockout stages though. As the importance level rises, so does the need to play them.

Will admit it does seem a bit silly to look at the past 5 games when the season is only 6 games in. If we had beat Everton you would probably include it.

I mean I'm not a massive morespurs fan but his first line in the article is 'Since the Everton game' and all about showing our form SINCE that hard to take opening day defeat.

Yeah potentially, Jose isn’t really known for rotation throughout his career but the Europa allows weaker teams to start and still get results

I follow, but it does seem quite arbitrary. Shouldn’t ignore the Everton result.

And in all honesty we should be top. So it’s not exactly plain sailing.

That was kind of my point, decent start for you guys but nothing more.
Very similar to us actually.

Everyone is looking at each other licking their lips thinking we have a chance here because they’re dropping points. I shouldn’t feel more confident just because of that, Spurs will easily drop more silly points along the way I’m sure of it.

Hopefully take six points of Liverpool this season, make up for any silly dropped points.
