What's the obsession with Mikel Arteta

Seriously why do Arsenal fans go gaga over Mikel Arteta. I feel he is one of the most overrated managers in the league.

Yes he won the FA cup beating Liverpool side who were in their vacation mode but apart from that he has done f' all. Arsenal used to be a side that used to be good to watch even under the darkest days of Emery. He has made that side look like a Mourinho side. Previously when they use to be tonked by City and Pool 5-0 now they lose by 1-0 but their win record is as horrible as before.

He is tactically clueless (Ole and Lampard are better tactically than him), he plays turgid football and has made Aubameyang look like a pub player this season by playing him on the wing. Arsenal fans think their youngsters like Saka, Nketiah, AMN are good but the likes of Nketiah are absolute championship level players and Saka is a mid table player at best. He is no Mason Greenwood or Mason Mount.

We should be absolutely smashing them this weekend especially when they have 0 creativity ( for a manager who worked under Pep) and they'll play with 2 donkeys in DM in Xhaka and Partey. Pepe is a worse signing than Kepa and Lacazette thinks he is Anelka minus the goals. United should sign Bellerin for cheap in the December window. He may be suspect defensively but he can play wingback on the right and make good runs. Wasn't he put up on a transfer list the previous window?

I think Arteta will be sacked before Ole or Lampard. Discuss.

Well he's already won two titles in just over half a season, so the trajectory is good.

Jury still out, but we've got a poor mentality and an average squad.

The first logical step is to make us more organised and hard to beat, which he has mostly done. Yes we're poor to watch right now, but it seems like he has a plan.

I'm not 100% sold but I think he's showing more quality than Ole and Lampard which is why I really want us to back Arteta to have the best chance of being placed 3rd when Klopp and Pep leave the top two

But Ole and Lampard will be replaced with better managers, and Spurs will probably be ahead of Arsenal as well, by the time Pep and Klopp leave.

Possibly, but if Arteta is as good as we hope then we can be further ahead in our new managerial process than these two clubs when the time comes.

I'm happy every time Chelsea and Utd get decent results as I feel it buys their managers more time.

I hope Spurs follow the usual Mourinho lifecycle

Strange for an arsenal fan to hope Tottenham win the league, but whatever I guess.

How many times have arsenal even beaten mourinho? Is it once?

I don’t think being further along in a managerial process is all that important when you look at the gap in talent between the squads, and the resources they jave to add the finishing touches they need. Lampard and Ole could be replaced by next season as well.

I guess

I forgot about that part of the cycle, I meant more about leaving them in a mess after he leaves

Nope it's not something that by itself is the all important, but it's defo a contributing factor.

That's why I think it would have been prudent for us to make some investment to get our squad as close to yours and Chelseas as we could, but we're still quite a way behind I think.

And this is where Arsenal are gonna have problems as they’ll find it difficult to bridge the gap in squad quality while they continue to miss out on CL money.

Regarding Spurs, their issue will be whether they can hold onto their top players. I don’t think Mourinho will leave them in a mess given he’s not doing a huge rebuild of the squad.

See what happens when some of the chances start flying in and OGS looks great again. We were due a home win after so many games we failed to win at home.
