Awful

Everything is awful. People were saying we improved defensively, I said that we are extremely lucky and today you saw again how bad we are defensively. Offensively we are even worse. Never in my lifetime Arsenal has been this bad offensively. Dreadful. Wenger played better football with Sanogo and this kind of players. Where are now fans from here that think Mesut Ozil is not good enough to play for us? Everything is awful, even before game starts I know that we will play awful. Can someone please tell me the last game where we dominantly outplayed someone?

I mostly just wonder why Abameyang chose arsenal over literally anywhere else that he could have gone to. He'll now just be remembered as that good player who joined arsenal and that was it

No hindsight even needed, it was a bad decision from football perspective. Unless he really bought into Arteta, and thought he could become a legend, in which case fair play. Arsenal needed him to stay, however have done nothing to capitalise on this. I suppose a silver lining is the big contact will mean we will keep him for a while, granted he still is good by the end of it

What had he done since he signed on. If anything we should be regretful giving him that wage.
Tonight, he just jogged around; no conviction in his play.

Whatever we do we seem back at square one, it was same under Wenger in his later years, yes we were higher in the table but we never improved and just slowly slipped. There’s many things wrong here that clearly go further than a manager. We’ve ended up with an expensive squad that if you were selecting players to build a top 4 team, you’d probably only take 2 or 3 at a push

Just feels if we sacked Arteta and got a better coach, in years 2 years time we’d be back with a similar lack of progress, just maybe stuck around 6th.

Player recruitment needs a serious looking at, you routinely see worse stature teams than us sign better players and or players who fit what they need. We rarely sign a player who turns out to be a success past a season or so. The club is a big mess

Just needs serious investment. There is no other way around it. We can't just rely on finding another Wenger who will get us punching above our weight

We do need investment for sure because clearly at least half our squad aren’t good enough, but even if we spent 30 billion on players I can’t say I’d be confident that anyone at the club would spend it in the right way.
Partey and Gabriel seem to be positively addressing areas we need (obviously early days), So hopefully that continues. But even that was countered by giving Willian a massive deal to take the edge of what seemed a smart window.

January will be telling, it’s clear what we need. If this is solved by some panic buy past it player on huge wages, the recruitment is clearly fecked,.. cue Erikson, 4 year deal on 300k

We have improved defensively. By pulling players deeper, trying to retain possession and limiting the attack. Even today when we were chasing the game there were times a player had the ball wide and there was no one in the box to pass to, not one of our players had ventured into the box for the cross.

Right here.

Ozil isn’t good enough, if he was playing he’d just be another overpaid Willian type, let most games past him by then occasionally do something good. Maybe We might be 11th with ozil, but still nowhere near good enough. That’s not saying the players we have are better than ozil, just that our issues will not be solved by simply bringing him back to the team. Playing him again wouldn’t make any more difference than singing any other older high wage player who was good a few seasons ago
