So approaching the busy Christmas period and at the European knockout stages, where does everyone think Spurs are realistically.
The aim, for me is regaining our top 4 place and winning a trophy.
Of the four competitions we are still competing:
League Cup.
Next up Stoke away. A big, physical team, who have shown some good form to get to 6th in the Championship. Not a given by any means, but if Jose takes it seriously, we should get past them.
Of the other teams left in we have One of City or Arsenal. Brentford or Newcastle and Everton or Utd. From these the obvious one is City. Over two legs, would not be overly worried about any of the others.
FA Cup.
Way too early to call. Currently joint second favorites at around 7/1
Europa League.
Seeded in Monday's draw and currently 5/1 favorites with Paddy Power.
From the teams still in it, given no real giants fell out of the CL, the main opposition would appear to be AC Milan, Ajax, Napoli and possibly Benfica. Can't rule out the other English teams, only because of the familiarity of playing each other regularly.
Personally I think we have a good shout, assuming no big injury disasters and Jose taking the competition seriously.
PL Title.
Now for the difficult one. Personally, whilst we are doing considerably better than I thought, I do feel this one is beyond us taking into count all the factors that go into winning it.
Of the so called contenders, for me City just don't have that spark anymore, but could easily spend another 200mil in January to fix that. Chelsea are a bit over hyped. Yes they have some very good players, but are consistently coming up short against their fellow big 6 rivals. Never a good sign. Utd are too inconstant and have the weakest manager of the main contenders. Arsenal. Just no. Have to say well off the level required. Leicester don't have the squad required to maintain a challenge at the very top for 38 games + playing in Europe.
Unfortunately that leaves Liverpool. Whilst I can't stand their arrogant, spiteful fans, when factoring in their injuries ( that has been well over hyped btw ) coming back in the new year, coupled with their good position now, you can't really see past them.
So for me, Top 4 is a very realistic aim, and of the cups, League Cup if we can get past City, and as strong a shout as any of the others in the Europa,
So where, realistically are we this season

"The whole team is at the top of their game, executing Jose's tactics to a tee, with only one blip in the freak result against West Ham.
Yet, on the back of all that, every media outlet and recognised pundit is putting Spurs down, refusing to even mildly recognise them as any sort of contender."

The media doesn't rate you as title contenders because they know the Spurs fans heads are already in the clouds before the ball was kicked on day 1. Anymore praise and hype from the media and you're heads will be in space.

Wouldn’t be surprised if we see the cheque book come out in January for a couple more signings

Besides everyone knows the media and so called pundits only show love and respect to Pool, City, Chelsea and Utd. Even if those clubs lose, it's an off day whilist everyone else is lucky. Complete 🤢🤮

Not true, most of us were very pessimistic at the start of the season. Even more so when we played badly and lost in the first game against Everton. The likes of Sandy might make a lot of noise on here but he doesn't represent the fans as a whole.

Worth noting the league cup semis are 1 legged this year. I fancy us to beat Stoke and make the final as long as we are not draw away to City or United.
Europa league, if Jose prioritises it then we should definitely be making the QF and then see from there. I think United could be dangerous in that competition, and Arsenal tend to have incredible luck in the cups - I wouldn’t rule them out finishing 16th and winning the Europa.
The league, I just want us to still have a realistic chance of winning it come the start of April - that would be progress

You have to give me credit though for saying Spurs were in with a chance of the title, when everyone else said not a chance. A bit of eating of humble pie from a few would not go amiss.

Btw Southampton have just gone 3-0 up and are up to third, a point better than Chelsea.
I keep telling people, this season is throwing up surprise after surprise, so to even suggest Spurs are in the thick of it is not actually that funny.

Spurs and Liverpool look like more Title contenders than City and Utd that's for sure. Utd are too poor and inconsistent and don't have the characters or leadership to fight for a title. City need a complete overhaul and looked bored yesterday, like a completely different team.
Chelsea look decent but they should be after spending over 200 million.
Liverpool still the main ones to beat and destroying them easily isn't for everyone😉

Bumble Spurs attempted fewer shots per game and faced more shots against them . If Lamela got a deserved red card then we may have won that 6 pointer game.
