Place in order of importance:
1. Rooney’s tactical genius
2. Rooney’s absence from the team
3. The return of Krystian Bielik
4. Colin Kazim-Richards
5. Having a nasty Scottish rat in the midfield
Why are we better?

Daily Telegraph reporting that Derby players and staff have not been paid due to a delay in the sale process. Helpful!

No, just reinforces the fact we are skint.

As long as they have enough put by to last until next week. And no parties tonight will save them a bit. 💰

Makes me laugh how some people (not on here), try and make excuses for wages being paid late.
The usual problem is an empty bank account.

Vidal, I think out is all of those factors + one other. Just a little touch of good fortune. Before the upturn, you couldn't say we played badly. We often didn't deserve to lose. But our opponents knew exactly hoe we would play. We would play slowly out from the back and invariably give the ball to Rooney for him to pass forward. Several times he lost possession and they scored from the error. Many times they just stopped the attack at that point. And this tactic lead to our being slow to attack compared with recent games when we have attacked with speed and numbers.
And we have some talented young players plus oldies like Shinnie and Waggy and the energy of Knight and the good solid goalkeeping of Marshal. Alltold we nave outplayed our opponents and enjoyed our luck. Before Christmas that Brm goalkeeper error would have won the a Brum player rather that Benn snapped by Bielik.

"gone to a Brum player" not "won the a". been not Benn. Sorry - when will I ever learn?

I see that Tommy Docherty has passed away, for me the first of many unsuccessful great hopes of a revival to the Cloughie/Mackey era of success. Alas only Arthur Cox and Jim Smith have been able to deliver

I want to add another to your list... having a decent keeper the defence can trust.
When I saw our first against Brum I thought for a moment they had signed Roos without me noticing!
I think Bielik is the most important factor, and surely Cocu would also have played him once fit.
On the pitch CKR is the next most important factor. He gives our attack a focal point it lacked under Cocu. But Cocu could have picked him and didn't, so that's to Rooney' s credit as well.
Third is Marshall. How nice to have a keeper who isn't an accident waiting to happen every game.
I think the rest on the list are pretty much on the same level, and I'll add Byrne into that bunch too. Be honest, who of us thought we wouldn't really be hurt by selling Bogle at the time it happened?

Apologies for the double post. The tablet said it hadn't submitted...

Good points, but Marshall and Byrne were already in the team. I was talking more about the recent improvement over the past few games.
