Who's really to blame?

I don't think it's worth me doing another Jose bashing article as I think we're all singing from the same hymn sheet but I've noticed that whilst Jose is rightly getting it in the neck, there's one man mysteriously lacking the obligatory fan phlegm dripping from his forehead.

Daniel Levy seems to have escaped criticism, probably because he pulled off some decent deals in the summer but is that really the mark of a good chairman? Surely a good chairman has a plan, a style of playing, an identity that threads through the entire club, regardless of who comes and goes. We have a chairman that has been doing the same u-turn down the same street backwards and forwards for the last 20 years. Ignoring those earlier years his cycle has become worryingly predictable - it's always progressive then established. Progressive manager then an established one. The constant flip-flopping means we have to overhaul our squad with each passing manager as we don't have a committed identity anymore. Fine, I get it, Poch's form did dip and although I never agreed with his sacking, I can see why results may have triggered that decision. Surely though, the key is to make sure you go for someone that has the same football values? The Ajax model is a good example. They never compromise. They never reshape. They dictate how they're going to play and it is run that way from youth development to the first team. Each manager that's then chosen is a square peg in a square hole.

I get that the knives are out for Jose but what of the man that hired him. That's where the poison really is. We're stuck with Jose probably for another year until we get our next progressive manager in. Why do I know that? Because it's happened before and it'll happen again.

Oh, and although I did start this article by saying I wouldn't bash Jose but I have one question for those that nonsensically still believe it was the right decision to bring him in - who would win between Poch's vibrant exciting team of 2016 and Jose's pragmatic also-rans we currently have?

For me it's pretty clear that not only is the style of football streets ahead, Poch's team would have torn this one apart. No doubts.

Levy gave me some hope in the summer with the transfer window and while he did his bit, the anger towards him is rearing its head again thanks to the way things are playing out with Mourinho. I never wanted Poch gone and I never wanted Mourinho as the replacement. It looks like two wrongs are creating a bigger wrong.

Thing is,if a manager is weak and doesn't demand investment then ultimately who's at fault.

Mourinho has many faults, but the one thing you can't levy(no pun intended)against him is being coy when it comes to demanding investment in his squad.

Morespurs refers to Poch as a gentleman, where some would look on him as a weakling who ultimately let Spurs and it's supporters down.

Poch wanted investment and spoke publicly about it. He didn't make demands and cry at not getting the players he wanted because that is not his style and helps to keep a happy ship. Under other owners he would get the right backing and he'd most likely have won stuff.

Mourinho's demand for new players didn't really get him anywhere in the end at United. And to be honest it doesn't look like it's getting us anywhere either.

Jose is always initially backed. Though like at the end with United and his second stint at Chelsea, when he isn't, he throws his dummy out. He had helped Fellaini's contact getting extended (of not for Ole, he'd have still been here until it expired).

From day one I said if Jose fails then Levy should get the bullet too.

This is Josè’s first full season with us.

I think people are forgetting Poch’s first full season in terms of performances and finishing 6th.

I am still prepared to give Jose time. There were rumors of Poch being sacked in his first full season, i seem to remember Ryan Mason scoring a last min equalizer or winner in a cup game that pretty much saved his bacon.

Mourinho had a large chunk of last season though to get used to the team and players. And I was more hopeful with the performances under Poch in his first season. Our performances under Mourinho stink and are awful to watch, and we know this is how he likes to set up so we can't expect it to be that great going forward either. Even with the Arsenal win it was boring to watch in that second half. I don't want to get used to seeing Spurs do this, but thankfully Jose is never going to be a long term manager, whether he gets sacked or leaves on his own accord.

Not traditionally, but he's said himself Spurs is a different project to his previous jobs and said this is more long term
