Second half was much better, soon as we quickened up our passing, made more forward runs and passes Newcastle couldn’t cope. Not sure why we didn’t do that in first half, especially as Newcastle weren’t much better in that half. Seems we still have bit of confidence issue in that area, and default to playing it safe far too much which is frustrating when it’s against team who probably would buckle if we went at them.

Still a very positive result overall, and I’m glad we went for 3 goals and weren’t content with a 1/2-0. Southampton will be a much sterner test as they definitely won’t be as passive as Newcastle. They do have some injuries but couple could return against us, think Ings is back in training. However even with a depleted squad against Leicester they still looked good and 2-0 was bit unfair on them

Not sure how serious Southampton will take fa cup, with the players they have missing it could be quite a weak side from them, with them saving first team for the league game. Their bench against Leicester was all academy players apart from long and Forster, so chance some of them will start
