Trent into Midfield gotta happen

I think it is getting more and more apparent that we need Trent in midfield. He has been our driving force of late and having him in the final 3rd would benefit us with his crossing and passing. He was always a midfielder converted into a right back and he will have re learn some of the aspect of midfield play like pressing and positional play.

End of last season he was the best RB in the world. Yes he had the odd defensive one on one lapse but he was the best however he has outgrown that position now and the start of 21/22 season it makes sense to transition. First of all:

Gini - leaving on a bosman
Ox/Keita - will get injured again and again
Milner - on his last legs
Hendo - becoming injury prone
Thiago - jury out still
Shaq - squad player at best

That leaves Fab and Jones which could be a very good and exciting 3 for the future.

Only question is what we do with right back?

Neco is not ready for me and most likely not good enough. Who do we buy and how much do we have to spend? It needs to be an attacking right back with pace. We could go English with Lamptey or Max Aarons but if we really feel brave then Pereira from Leicester or Hakimi from Inter but they will cost a bit.

The other option is to ignore what I have said and keep Trent at RB so we can sign another CB and striker but then accept he will make mistakes.

This is a great video as to why Trent should move into midfield:

The time you have on the ball in midfield is far less than in defence or out wide. Trent's current role in the team actually plays to his strengths.

The only problem currently is that he can't alternate with Henderson when he wants to come infield and obviously he's also missing Henderson defensive qualities.

Personally, everyone fit, I'd have Fabinho and VVD as our first choice cbs.

I'm not totally against that tbh...but then we'll need another holding midfielder.

Unless of course we play Thiago there and have the legs either side of him...but that would mean going full Bayern.

TAA gets space out wide that he wouldn't get in midfield. Unless he took up spaces like KDB does, otherwise I'd leave him where he is. He is assured to play at RB for us for the next 10 years.

I don't think he needs to become part of the midfield, it almost seems as if he is playing the Joao Cancelo role but in this Liverpool side, particularly in the build up play.

Although he has been well out of form for large parts of the season (who hasn't), his quality is clearly there for all to see as a RB, whilst he has his limitations defensively, which many full backs do these days, he is for sure one of the best RB's in the world, I don't see why it would be all that necessary to change his position when he is one of the best in the position he is already in.

I'd play Hendo at 6.

After the way Henderson has elevated himself since Klopp moved him forward...you want to move him back
