Back 3 or Fuched?

So, Rodgers has come out and clearly stated with the current fatigue and injury list we have to find a new way of winning games. Well that starts at Burnley - the last place you want to go in this situation.

No point playing on the counter against a narrow and organised team. To win differently we’ll need to have physicality defending set pieces and width on attack. To me that screams a back 3.

Kasper
Amartey. Soyuncu. Fuchs
Castagne. Thomas
Ndidi. Tielemans.
Under. Nacho. Albrighton.

That’s my best attempt at resting the players who need it and still having something in attack. I can see a case for resting Tielemans and having Choudhury in for height. Thomas and Castagne are our best hope of getting forward and Thomas is great on the cover - we’ll need that. Nacho can then get in the box and hopefully on the end of something.

If evans isn’t fit, playing Amartey in a back four against Burnley would be suicide for me.

This is gonna be a dogfight to the finish.

This reminds me of a joke that was doing the rounds back in the day.

City are playing F****t away and we're 10 nil up at half time. O'Neill says in the dressing room, we've won this easily lads, I'm taking you all off so you can rest, apart from Lennon. Lenny, you're out there on your own.

Yes boss, says Lennon, and MON and the rest of the squad retire to the players lounge for the rest of the game.

At full time, Lennon walks into the players lounge and MON says, how did we get on? Lennon says, well we won, but it was tight - 10-8.

What??? says O'Neill. What the hell happened?

Well boss, says Lennon, I got sent off ten mins into the second half...

Isn’t Tavares worth a start with in midfield rather than 2 defensive mids?

No True Blue, instead of a second defensive midfielder or Iheanacho! And by the way, check the entries on the Prediction League post - you've missed the last one off.

Thanks Warwick, just giving the others a chance

Lol True.

Tavares is clearly a huge talent but lots of noise around him that he’s set his sights away from Leicester. I’m confused as to why he’s not been given more game time under Rodgers if that’s not the case seeing is he’s a talented midfielder that can play wide or narrow?

Seems to be some media noise now suggesting he’s got an opportunity to stay.

We create nothing with 2 defensive midfielders playing so anything but that please. Think we need to go out to get full points from the next 3 games and hope players come back after the international break

Kasper

Ricardo
Amartey
Soyuncu
Fuchs
Castagne

Ndidi

Tielemans
Albrighton

Iheanacho
Vardy

5-3-2 with wingbacks giving the width. Albrighton playing on the right side of a midfield 3. Two up top as it worked well against Burnley before until we stopped doing it for some strange reason. Stop their big forwards and put pressure on their back line. If we’re getting overwhelmed on the wings then Albrighton switches to left, Ricardo moves forward and Iheanacho drops so you transition to a 4-5-1 with no subs required. Something Rodgers seems keen on.
