Ian St. John

I've just heard that Ian St. John has passed away aged 82. I remember him well, particularly from the 1965 FA Cup Final when Liverpool defeated my team Leeds United. He was part of a formidable front two with Roger Hunt. I also really enjoyed the Saint and Greavsie Show that was on ITV for years.

RIP to Ian and condolences to his family.

A class act. Saw him play quite a lot in the 60's. A proper footballer. RIP Saint.

Sad news that another footballing great passes away, it’s so sad that yet again the fans can’t celebrate his life at the club and say a proper good bye to him!

RIP Saint.

The wife and I were remembering him at dinner and she asked if he was the G.O.A.T Liverpool player?

What do you guys think?

I agree, Kenny Dalglish the G.O.A.T. followed by John Barnes and Steven Gerrard.

Here's a great photo of Ian St John during his Motherwell days, speaking to Real Madrid president Santiago Bernabeu just before the 1960 EC final at Hampden Park

That is, indeed, a fine photograph, with our Bobby Roberts in the middle of the three behind Mr Bernabeu.
