Nicola Sturgeon did not breach the ministerial code, an independent inquiry has concluded.
The investigation examined allegations that Scotland’s First Minister had misled parliament and failed to record meetings with Alex Salmond in 2018.
The inquiry, led by senior Irish lawyer James Hamilton, found there had been no breach of the code.
In a 61-page report published on Monday, Mr Hamilton said Sturgeon had given an ‘incomplete narrative of events’ to MSPs, but said this was a ‘genuine failure of recollection’ and not done on purpose.
He went on: ‘I am of the opinion that the First Minister did not breach the provisions of the Ministerial Code in respect of any of these matters.’
Sturgeon has now welcomed the report’s findings, describing them as a ‘comprehensive, evidence-based and unequivocal’ conclusion that she did not breach the code, and the guy that made an article on JA606 calling her 'Nippy' is bound to have a mahoosive riddy now and feel like a right prat.
