Dundee Uniteds American Partnership.

Interesting story that Dundee United have partnered up with Dundee United old boy Brian Welsh's American team Northern Virginia United.
Although not an elite American team they are at a lower level in the league system over there. The club was founded by Brian Welsh to give opportunity to the American youths that slipped though the cracks at the top league. So far 6 players have signed on to full time professional contracts in the past two seasons.
The partnership will work mainly at youth level with players from each team traveling across the pond to take in different set ups and cultures.as part of the deal North Virginia will take on the Dundee United crest and incorporate the colours into their kit.
Perhaps not a major surprise that with American owners that this has happened but I don't see any down side to this partnership.

Ivan, the teams they run are in the 4th & 5th tiers over there. The structure is murder and keeps changing as a result of various power struggles such that there are 7 different league bodies running leagues over the 6 tiers though the USSF (SFA equivalent) only really recognise the top 3 tiers and the rest is administered by an amateur governing body even though some players are semi-pro.

All the leagues are still franchise type operations with no promotion / relegation. 4th tier is still pretty decent standard. They're summer leagues largely filled by college players. Junior has an offer from a team that has been at the 'top' of their league (it's complicated!) and the get about 3000 fans.
