£25m...

I know it's Alex Rae but the points are valid.

He is easily £25m and then some.

Valuations nowadays seem pointless. Seen bang average players go for big money and some decent players go for less than perhaps they are worth.

I don't think Kent is worth anywhere near £25m but don't think it's unrealistic that Rangers could command a big fee for him if one of the top flight clubs from down south came looking. I think from memory Leeds offered around £15m last summer and it was kicked out? If that's the case you would expect his market value has only increased since then given the season he has had.

Other factor is he's not someone we're actively looking to or need to sell so would need to be something we couldn't refuse to entertain it.

£15m would be good money for a player we paid £6.5m for IMO.

£20m would be absolute top dollar but not very likely in my book.

£25m nah - no chance.

Kent has had a good season. He had a bit of a lull for a couple of months but I am guessing his numbers are up for the whole season and he is an absolute key player for us.

He is clearly one that is targetted by the opposition and he takes a bit of a pounding but he rarely misses games through injury.

Capable of moments of real quality and always carries a threat.

But to achieve £25m he would need to be MOTM most weeks and most games in Europe and hitting 15-20 goals in a season.

The interesting thing about Kent is his trajectory. If you think back to his first loan season he was a really skinny, raw winger who was pretty one dimensional. In his first season he got 6 goals and 5 assists, then last year it was 8 goals and 3 assists. This season he has 13 goals and 12 assists and has developed his game where he can play more centrally as well as wide and he's filled out a fair bit. He's also getting more shots on goal, more key passes and completing more games than in his first 2 seasons.

If he continues with that level of improvement those numbers will only increase. I'd imagine at that point it will be difficult to keep him but we should absolutely make a decent return for what we spent on him.

Absolutely spot on Gersmid.

Over the piece it’s clear Kent has been more consistent and more productive.

If he can just get past those wee 1-2 month spells where he goes a bit quiet then he will definitely go up another level.

I personally have never fully understood the criticism of Kent. We knew we weren’t buying the finished article but there was more than enough for me in his good moments to suggest he was worth investing in.

He is hugely talented and wonderful to watch on his day. If he could get his consistency levels right up there he could hit the £20m mark for us.

I just think £25m is too far. I guess you never know - if he tears up the CL next season.....?😂

No £25m is definitely too high, wouldn't have him anywhere near that.

Will just be interesting to see what we do end up getting for him as he's not someone who was banging the door down to go when Leeds came in last summer and he's got a couple of years still on his contract. Essentially would take a big bid for us to consider selling him so that's where it comes down to how much another team wants him.

If we turned down £15m last summer you would think his value has only increased. I could see him next season getting to upwards of 15 goals and if he can add that consistency through the season or even find a way to be more effective even when it's not happening for him then he could be a big seller for us.

Theres been nothing to suggest Kent is looking to leave yet and like a few others hopefully the lure of possibly playing in the CL groups next season keeps him hungry to stay with us.

I think £20m is a realistic target for us to be looking to achieve with Kent if he continues to develop.

It's good that we have a few players now who could potentially command high fees.

No secret the club took the decision to front end a lot of player investment to win the league and will need to recoup that, but rather than having to sell an entire squad we're hopefully in a position where we can have a model that lets us sell one or two and then use the money to find a couple of other rough diamonds to polish up or replace from within the youth set up.

Kent
Aribo
Kamara

all qualify as a homegrown player for English clubs which adds to their values.
