Arsenal Loanee Is Game Winner

Joe Willock comes on as a late sub - and scores the goal that wins it for Newcastle United.

He has scored 3 goals in 9 games for the Toons - hopefully he brings that form back to us next season

Not sure how long Willock’s current Arsenal deal runs for but, if there’s a few seasons on it, personally I’d send on a season long loan and reassess him in summer 2022.

3 more years I think.

Joe seems to be loving it up there. Bruce wants to keep him. The fans apparently love him.

A season long loan seems an obvious solution to me.

Egyptian international Elneny happy to be an Arsenal squad player, where Hale End product and Arsenal lad Willock wouldn’t be?

Okay.

Yes.

Nothing to back that little hunch of yours up with, I’m guessing...

Just common sense, why would a young guy who is wanted as a key player by another Premier League club like Newcastle (and there will be others) settle for what is almost certainly going to be a bench warming role (at best) at Arsenal ?
Elneny is nearly 29, extra game time is unlikely to improve him significantly, it’s a totally different situation.

Elneny is in his prime and is a seasoned international. Should really be starting week in week out somewhere.

Willock is a youngster at the start of his career and should be prepared to fight for a place.

Newcastle haven't started him for 3 games anyway.

Willock's gonna be 22 next season, really should be playing week in week out at this stage of his career. I like him and would be great if he made it with us but realistically he won't be more than a squad player.

When Partey was 22 he was back up at Atletico.
We need squad players. Nicky Butt was often just a squad player at United, but always played enough games and won lots.
Not sure people think we can go a season with 15 players, or they think we will buy 15 players in the summer. It is strange "squad player" is something they want to get rid of.

Homegrown squad player as well...

He's a squad player that we didn't need enough that we loaned him out, and we'll be strengthening midfield in the summer. From his point of view he should be looking to leave and be a key player for another team. If he comes back to us he won't play that much.
