Santi is a great shout, DJ.
Sure Per could persuade him too.

Just not sure he is ready to retire yet. He is with Xavi somewhere I think (Qatar?).
Maybe he could be player/manager for the U23s...

So you are blaming him for the percieved defensive faults even though he wasn't involved in coaching the defence?? Seems fair
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No I'm telling you he would have been involved in coaching the defence ya dumbass. Just because his job title was not "Defensive Coach" does not mean he had nothing at all to do with any of it.
You've clearly never been coached in a club setup. Or were just so sh !t nobody of worth at the club ever bothered with you, whichever.

Yet it was well documented at the time Bould did not have these duties, and was frustrated at having to follow Wengers instructions rather than coach the defence.
I guess you werwe coached by Bould when you were in the Arsenal first team - you facking weird little runt.

Steve Bould is a strange one, after being an excellent loyal player for us he was the defensive coach under Wenger. The truth is though that was never allowed to do any proper defensive coaching (because Wenger is a control freak) and so our defence got progressively worse as Wenger had no interest in defending and didn’t have the ability - he was a brilliant attacking coach but that’s all (this is coming from the players).
Rather than resign on principle Bould stayed on as a “Yes Man” and took the money. I understand the pressures he might have faced to stick it out for his family but it wasn’t his finest hour…
I think Martin Keown given free rein on our defence could have saved Wenger’s managerial career but common sense was never Wenger’s strong suit.

I think people assume because Bould was a defender that when he become assistant manager he was "defensive coach". It has been well documented he wasn't, and had to follow Wengers instructions.
There were even rumours of a bust up when Bould tried to do defensive training and Wenger put his foot down.

One of many reports of Boulds lack of input:
"Bould is thought to have become frustrated at the cancellation of specific sessions working on improving the team's defensive shape.
The former centre-back accepted his promotion to working with the first- team squad in the summer in the belief he would be able to use his own techniques to help tighten up a back four that has consistently leaked too many goals in recent seasons.
But Wenger has kept a firm grip on the training programme and is thought to be reluctant to change his methods - when unable to take training the day before Arsenal's Premier League match against Swansea, it was fitness coach Tony Colbert and not Bould who is believed to have taken the session."

If Steve Bould can be sacked why hasnt Arteta ?

Because there is no desire to sack Arteta.

OK, Bould was the guy that put out the cones and chewed gum whilst looking glum - regardless of his title he couldn’t do anything because the hapless foolish Wenger wouldn’t allow it.
