I'm following the Taliban Press Conference which is on right now. In itself I find this quite bizarre.
I'm not sure why, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I am not sure I believe them.
Anyway, the general crux is that they have the right to live by their values (Sharia), that everyone has been pardoned, women will get a fair crack of the whip (pun intended) and all in all it's going to be some kind of nirvana compared to the incompetent Afghan Government (their words). Most of all they want an end to all fighting against external and internal enemies.
I also watched the two part documentary on Afghanistan (iplayer) by the extremely courageous Yogita Limaye and their Government does seem pretty whack.
What a mess.
Anyway, what are the thoughts on what the Taliban are saying? Should they be allowed to live by their values in their country? Should we step in? What are the answers?

Firstly, this isn’t a “long term study”. It’s a lab experiment. Did you actually read the university’s press release or details of the study?
The uni’s press release title is:
“Study supports widespread use of better masks to curb COVID-19 indoors”
It explicitly shows that masks *do* work, and that N95 and KN95 masks are the most effective, filtering 50% of droplets that may carry the virus.
The study leader, Serhiy Yarusevych, said:
“There is no question it is beneficial to wear any face covering, both for protection in close proximity and at a distance in a room.”
Are you purposefully promoting fake news or too lazy to read beyond Daily Mail headlines?
