Well after well over a season I’ve managed to wheedle myself out of yet another hill climbing jaunt in the Lakes with the ever suffering Mrs Ginger, to get myself up the road and look forward to my first game in Christ knows how long.
With eager anticipation I boarded my first train yesterday afternoon only for the first announcement that London-Glasgow train were delayed by up to 45 minuted due to some cwnts trespassing. Drive over them would be my suggestion but Aviva for some inexplicable reason don’t encourage such devastating yet effective tactics.
As luck (the only slice so far) would have it; it meant I could get an earlier connection at Crewe which had been delayed and meet the kids for the planned meal at Sarti’s. So far so good. Then they hit me. Wee ones have communion coming up and the dresses are like a fortune. Ffs I hadn’t even started my grilled prawns. Two bank transfers later I’m being pinned for spending money for a girls trip I’m paying for them to go to Spain in few weeks!
Dinner over at 10ish and back to hotel to be greeted with “Where’s yir mask?" I muttered “fwck off" before heading to my room. Breakfast planned for 7.30 so maybe today would be better. Alas.
Pop down for breakfast and two of the most clinically obese people I have ever seen in my life sit at the table next to me. Must be bears I’m thinking; until they start to speak. Shermans. And they are dressed in similar clothes. I’ve met Tweedledum and Tweedledee. Not only have they a nauseating accent but that fat cwnts are practically elbowing me out of the way at the buffet as they pile on everything their piggy little eyes settle on in vast quantities. They MUST be bears. It’s that bad I even finding myself adding haggis and sausage to my poached eggs. What has become of me? At least I hadn’t showered at this stage so was able to retain some tim dignity. Have fun with that conundrum bears.
Went to shops later to be stopped at every entrance with “where’s yir mask?" On the way out the door two of Scotland’s finest looking females are sparking up as they discuss going for a skinny latte and getting their make up done. They are barely clothed in short cropped tops with pierced navels I could just make out within the wobbles of mountainous lard that made up their stomachs. Yes, I stared until I realised they were staring straight back at me. I became frightened and walked hurriedly on.
Just what has happened to the mind image I had of my old city centre and the welcome that is Glasgow? Fwck knows but bravely I went on and even succumbed to popping into Boots to buy masks. The conversation at their entrance was a bit of a stand off for a minute where I explained I couldn’t wear a mask until I was allowed to go in and buy some. Cue the vacant clown eventually giving in and no, it wasn’t me.
The purchase of a new shirt and an umbrella to stave off the oncoming downpour satisfies me until I went outside the the umbrella spokes collapsed and the fwcking thing looked like it had been on a 30 minute spin. £30 that cost me. I returned to the hotel passing various drunks, people begging and doormen who were so crooked backed and nursing the obligatory ciggie they didn’t look like they could fight the cold. What a depressing sight.
Currently waiting for Silver to arrive and explain why he was banned from here which hopefully will cheer me up and we can head to the fine hospitality at Celtic Park and feed and drink ourselves silly. Meeting Master Ginger 2 and his Barrhead mates who are already out on the lash after the game and I just know the wee sheite will shoulder slope at 8.30 on the dot leaving me on my tod.
