Saul Ñíguez

We are apparently the favourites to sign him this window now according to the Daily Mail’s spanish football correspondent Craig Bushmousez.

I know he’s a class player however I’m not sure he would be the perfect player to play alongside Pogba and Bruno in a midfield three. Anyone that watches him regularly, I reach out to you with this question… is he the missing piece of our midfield jigsaw puzzle?

Better call Saul? Or keep faith with McFred?

‘ I just cannot understand why we’re not signing Bissouma. It’s just such an obvious signing to make.’

Isn’t this what we’ve done with the midfield for years?

Yes, about 20 years.

Bissouma's a frustrating one - I can tell you exactly what will happen: a PL club slightly higher up the food chain that Brighton (an Everton or West Ham) will go for him, and his price will inevitable double before we start to show interest in 2 or 3 years.

Or he stays at Brighton another year, Liverpool clear out some of their crocks in central midfield and sign him and he bosses the league for them.

I find it really odd that no one has snapped him up already.

I appreciate scouts will see things I don't - but the guy bosses that midfield pretty damn consistently, playing alongside players who aren't that great

Yeah it’s weird one. When you watch Brighton you can tell that a lot of these players are part of a team that are more than the sum of their parts. They’ve got some good players, but Bissouma is the only one that truly stands out over the others.

Having lost White already and received a decent fee for him, they could easily have rejected any sort of enquiries and basically said "not until next year", which they are not only entitled to do, but probably empowered to by TV revenue etc.

Players aren't packets of crisps, you can't just buy one whenever because you fancy it. Maybe Brighton don't want to lose 2 significant parts of their first team in the same window?

Everything I’ve read suggested that Brighton were bracing themselves to lose both this summer. They actually want a model that allows them to develop players to sell of for big profits, and the loss of revenue right now would make it even more welcome.

It just seems there hasn’t been any real interest by anyone to sign him, from what I gather.

If true then fair enough.
