I read a comment earlier that made me wonder how others see Fernandes. He is amazing ofc. But how do you define him? He is imo a ss masqurading as a #10. I compare him to rooney who most will call a striker but for much of is career at utd was a ss (the exception being 2011/2012 when he played as cf). Rooney as a ss had more defensive work ethic and imho was a big part of the reason we could play 2 men in midfield when others played 3 without being overrun
So after reading my post do you agree fernandes is a ss?
I also think he has given so much to us, but is it criminal to ask him to give more to protect the midfield 2 like rooney did? (genuine question)

OP
I don’t see him as a SS or an AM really. I think he is a hybrid of the two.
I don’t see him as Rooney. The player who I would liken him to most is probably Peter Beardsley in his prime.

He's more like Lampard than Rooney for me.

There’s a lot in his game when deployed in the role Ole has him play to compare with Gullit in the earlier part of his career, Cantona and Rooney.
He differs from each of the three of them physically and in his physical abilities, but otherwise, I’d put him up in that group if I was making comparisons about his style of play.

I'd probably describe Bruno as this what is said here by VC

Rooney was very much a no. 9/main striker in the 09/10 season.

I just think that Fernades is such an intelligent player - positionally, reading the game and technically. He's one of the best players in the league - and even with Ronaldo at United, I think he's your best player. I'm not underestimating Ronaldo, I just rate Fernades more, which says everything really.

Rooney and Bruno perform fairly similar roles to be honest.
