Restriction on sponsorship

I see 18 of the 20 premier league clubs managed to get a temporary ban in place last night on on sponsorship deals with existing business relationships. Newcastle and Man City were the 2 clubs to either abstain or vote the other way.

What do we think about this? Is it fair that the rules are changing now considering that Newcastle had been sponsored by Sports Direct for years and there most certainly was an existing business relationship there.

Where does this all stop, will we ever have true financial fairness in the league?

I know it's easy to "back your own" on this board, irrespective of what the arguement/debate is. But Robbing, come on mate this is basic stuff.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Indeed, I just feel that being best part of a billion in debt is far cry from living within your means.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Surely living within your means is, by definition, living at a level which you can afford.

Please share with us how we are living beyond our means. You clearly know something we don't. Or you'll admit you're wrongfat chance of either !

----------------------------------------------------------------------

He’s not just a moron, he is a stubborn moron.

Genuinely thinks building a world class stadium capable of holding multiple events and generating huge income for the club is us living beyond our means as we are paying for it through low interest corporate debt that is easily serviceable.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

To be fair, is getting 25k crowds at £5 a seat in Europa League what you envisioned.

Surely you hoped to get 61k crowds at £60 a pop
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I doubt Levy factored Euro conference league crowds in at any point. It’s about filling up for prem games - which we do and then selling out the NFL, boxing and concerts - all is going well thanks
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Worrying that you can't sell out Prem games only two seasons in to a new stadium

Arsenal had no problems filling the Emirates for the first few seasons and never got 25k crowds
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t have any worries about us only getting 25000 for a home game against Mura.

We sell out Prem games mostly, even if we didn’t it wouldn’t be something that would worry me at all.

Does it concern you?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

You struggle to sell out corporate most Prem games.

Surely that is a big loss of income, especially now you are not a CL club anymore.

Would you get more income from old 3PL + good CL run or new 3PL + Europa League

We get more money from the new ground - we make £20m from the NFL alone.

Also we’re not in the Europa league, we are in the European conference league.

I wouldn’t know about the corporate selling out or not, but don’t most companies have these on retainers whether they turn up or not

CFC is obsessed with out attendances.

Who would have thought a £1bn stadium could live in a chelseas fans head, rent free.

Better not tell him the new place triples our matchday and that's not even including nfl gigs boxing etc. Would hate to shatter his little fantasy.

Citizen………..can you elaborate on the supposed complicated deal Levy has at Spurs?

He owns 27% of the club in his own right, therefore he is entitled to get a ROI surely?

Owners of many clubs in thehistory of British history have been involved in this, sports direct was one such deal and no one batted an eyelid.

Owners make money out of clubs and take money out of the game, spurs for example have a complicated deal with Levi that he does very nicely out of.

If you are going to look at sponsorship look at owner practises as well, then wages and agent fees.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can you expand on the complicated deal between Spurs and Levy? Last I looked he was being paid around £6m a year as a wage. How is that complicated?
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Surprise surprise he cannot expand on his statement. and that's because it isnt complicated and he's trying to imply shady financial practices happen across the board...when its only City who have been taken to court and are under an FA investigation.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s to do with the acquisition of land after the stadium was built and the property’s about to be built on it and the companies he’s got money invested in that will be building them.

He owns the businesses that run all the catering and hospitality at spurs doesn’t he?

If I’m wrong I apologies but that’s what I was told.

It’s not an attack as that would be hypocritical, all clubs and owners bar non have ways and means to get what they want and what benefits themselves at the expense of others.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You are completely wrong, Daniel Levy has nothing to do with Levy Restaurants which is part of the very large Compass group.
