I've never really understood why more teams weren't in for him when Newcastle picked him up for ~£16m; he's been statistically one of the best dribblers in Europe in each of the past 4 seasons now, and whilst I appreciate stats don't tell the whole tale, you don't have to watch much of him to appreciate his combination of speed, two-footedness, and guile. Also, seems to do a huge amount of good-work off the pitch which has endeared him to supporters.

Sadly, I don't see Newcastle being willing to sell given his contract length and their financial position, unless they get relegated - and even then, I don't think he'd be short of suitors.

I do still believe though that a player of his ilk - a direct ball-carrier who's comfortable stretching teams, driving past his man, and ultimately breaking down stubborn defensive structures by committing defenders and dragging others out of position - is really needed.

We're starting to improve in our ability to build from the back and transition into the final third, but once there, the speed of play slows dramatically and we really lack ideas as to how to break teams down when they have players back in numbers.

I'm not going to claim to watch them week-in, week-out, but I think a player like Doku or Sulemana from Rennes would add another dimension to our attack without being prohibitively expensive.

Yes, he and Doku are really exciting players to watch - would love either of them at the club - although the latter seems to have been in Liverpool's crosshairs for a few years now, so I suspect there would be strong competition for his signature if he was available.

He has probably made the most amount of dribbles this season, 3 goals and 3 assists.

He's been playing for Newcastle for a while now and none of the big teams have shown much interest and you just know for the right price Ashley would of sold him so that tell's its own story really.

I seriously think he would fly in a good team

If Newcastle get relegated I think a lot of the top teams will be after him. Would certainly take him at Liverpool.

Apparently we might sign Adama Traore in Jan but I'd much prefer ASM

I really hope not, Traore is dreadful.

See if they'll be stupid enough to swap him for Pepe plus cash or something.

remember watching him play while he was at Nice v Napoli in CL.
