So it will be sweeter to win because of Gerrard, but that means the reverse will also be true. It will hurt much more when Gerrard and Villa knock you out. We'll see what happens.

Outdated nonsense competition that pales in comparison to the league if Gerrard knocks us out. Historic prestigious trophy if we knock him out. I have never seen Gerrard win the Premier League.

Dunno why people are getting their knickers in a twist. We’ll ultimately need to beat one or more of the top 6 sides to win it anyway. Would’ve been nice for a small club to get a payday against us, but Villa is hardly a trip to Anfield is it?

Ideally you want and expect those teams in the later rounds though. Third round is usually good for resting a few, mixing things up etc. We could still do that, of course, but the risk of our best shot at a trophy vanishing quickly get larger in doing so.
