Is Ronaldo a cant?

After being subbed off he proceeded to act like an absolute jabroni on the naughty step knowing full well the camera would pick it up and make the narrative about him. Great player obviously and Iโ€™m not quite in the Redassedtomatoes camp where he genuinely thinks Ronaldo is shiiiit now but attitude wise he is the complete opposite of what we need as a club going forward. His people have been furiously leaking (giggidy) stories that he wonโ€™t stick around if we donโ€™t make top 4 so if that very possible scenario happens it will be good riddance and proof that unless youโ€™re Mark Hughes, you should never go back.

I honestly think he thought we were much better than we are and thought he could get us back to the top and cement his legacy as a United hero. Instead it’s like he’s parachuted onto the Titanic and realised the captain didn’t know what an iceberg was ๐Ÿ˜‚

The bloke’s obviously thick as shiiiiiit.

Ronaldo will probably want out if we’re not in the CL. His brand doesn’t do the Europa conference. Replacing his brand will be easy. Welcome to United Lionel Messi.

Agree isn’t first sentence completely. CL is his thing.
I would add that this is where our focus with him / his focus should be. It’s clearly where he can still deliver. Week in week out in the prem is much harder, especially with our team currently.

This also but I suspect he still might think he can do what he came here for.

To be fair to him; after finishing second and then adding him, Varane and Sancho, I and many of us were expecting certainly more than we have delivered thus far and possibly more. I don’t blame him for expecting that, if he did / was / is.

Ronaldo aside, I think new summer manager, some serious improvements in midfield and hopefully some momentum we have the quality to be much closer than we are right now. Confidence through consistency is key. A 5-0 win is great sure but I’d rather a 1-0 then a 2-0 then a 3-1 and so on. I feel our players would get too comfortable after a huge win and then revert back to complacency.

Nah I’m not. I get why people will take issue with his bratty behaviour, he is hugely egotistical etc. I just don’t think a. He’s a caaaant and b. That he’s anywhere near our biggest problem right now, he was always short term too

For those who subscribe, there's a deep dive into Ronaldo's season at United so far in the Athletic today: https://theathletic.com/3080112/2022/01/21/cristiano-ronaldo-and-the-manchester-united-return-that-hasnt-gone-to-plan/

It's a balanced piece, reflecting both sides of the debate on his impact (tactically and culturally) on United. Also a very long article, even by my standards - Sat Nav would approve.
