I have always backed Daniel Levy

believing that he has done more good than bad for the club, but my patience is now wearing very thin. With barely a week left of the transfer window, not one player has come in and none have moved out. Are Spurs going to do any business? Last week an article went up saying Traore had signed. Absolutely no sign that anything of the kind has actually happened. It is these sort of transfer sagas that make Spurs a laughing stock at times, why do transfers take so long at Tottenham.

It is so obvious after three defeats to Chelsea in January alone, that Spurs are badly in need of new blood, if they are to compete with the best. Even if Spurs miraculously managed to get top four with this set of players, what would be the point? They would not make it out of the group stages.

I would like to think that maybe Spurs could have a real go at the FA Cup this season, but we all know eventually they will meet one of the so called big boys in a semi or the final, and the outcome would be the usual inevitable defeat.

It is going to be near on impossible for Spurs to bridge the gap between them and the financial doped, as even if they spend £300 million, they other clubs will spend even more, without FFP even glancing at them. The gap between the haves and the have nots is massive now, and pretty well impossible to bridge. But at least give it a bit of a go.

The squad is now so stale, the same players clogging up the squad, with little sign of any changes, which in turn means results will not change. Does anyone think Spurs will win any of the so called big games upcoming, I don`t. Already written off City, United and Liverpool. May beat West Ham at home, but that is not a gimme, and whilst Arsenal themselves are very average, they will no doubt raise their game when they play Spurs, so the result could be anything.

When Spurs play the better sides, especially away they just seem to roll over, and the inevitable mistakes creep into the game, usually self inflicted by the same players, and the inevitable happens, the opposition score, usually from a set piece, which Spurs are absolutely atrocious at defending, and it will not get any better, until they find a big commanding central defender that can read a set piece, and actually get his head on the ball before the opposition.

Yes we get the odd bit of excitement like last week against Leicester, or three goals in the last 10 minutes against Morecambe, or an injury time winner against Watford, but that`s not enough really. Spurs are simply not controlling games, they are having moments, but you never feel that any game Spurs are in total control.

Next two home games, Southampton and Wolves will both be games that in theory could go either way with the current Spurs line up. Spurs should be comfortably beating both at home, but we all know both games will go right to the wire, and will be squeaky bum time again. Cannot we just get a few games that are wrapped up by half time, and Spurs look in absolutely no danger of losing?

I suppose you can say Spurs are anything but boring, but really I think we are all looking for more quality and control, especially in the bigger games.

Villa will finish ahead of Spurs in the next couple of years... They are a progressive club with rich owners (so are we !) but have progressive, sensible ownership doing the right thing for their club
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Nah Villa won`t, they are not that progressive, they have sold their best player they have had in years, Grealish. They are a long way behind Spurs even with their new signings.

We will get Traore on the last day and it will be hailed as a coup.
Then we will spend the rest of the season saying “He’ll be better next season, after a proper pre-season with Conte”

Kessie turned us down.

Kessie us down is a reality check which all Spurd fans needed.

We are not a big draw right now. We are pinning our hopes on Conte single handedly attracting players. But he only had a 18mth contract?

If you were a free agent in summer wouldn't you wait to see who had qualified for champions league? Especially a player of Kessies level.

It's a shame but maybe all the money in the world can't attract the top quality players we crave. The question is if Conte will be happy with improvements available.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Not overly worried about players like Kessie. There is no evidence he would do well in the Prem anyway. Probably another N`dombele in reality. Look better playing in poorer leagues.

I would much prefer Spurs to go for proven Prem players, and not players just coming over for the Wonga.

Don't worry Levy's got this. Wolves are desperate to sell Traore so they will have by deadline day guaranteed. I wouldn't be surprised if he has some other deals up his sleeve too. Daniel Levy is God.

I agree, but as you also point out, its not specific to Spurs when it comes to players like this at the end of their contracts.

They want the biggest and best deals so will wait until the summer. That little bit patience could be worth a couple million a year in extra wages! It is a risk, Kessie may smash his knee up in March and then he's buggered.

With the likes of Real, Barca and PSG all looking to do free deals, players will wait.

Levy is just doing what Levy does. I expect there may be a signing or 2 but once again it has been dragged out to the end of the window, when January games they may have featured and made a difference in have already been played.

Just because a post on here said we'd signed Traore doesn't mean it's true. Unless everyone on here really is an ITK. I learnt a long time ago to stop taking notice of rumours until they actually happen.

Jan is a rubbish month to be buying players. And why do we automatically think we can walk in to any club and buy whoever we want? That's not how it works.

I'd rather we were planning for a good summer window but I worry about our recruiting system. We get far more misses than hits with players coming in. That's where the issue lies, not necessarily with Levy.

The bed wetting for losing to the champions of Europe is ridiculous.

Rome wasn’t built in a day. As long as we keep beating the shieete sides outside of the top 3 then we will make the CL

Problem is so will Man United, and they will also beat some of the better sides.

I don't agree with the argument that they are CL Champs and therefore we shouldn't expect too much.

We have had 3 goes at them in 3 weeks and the performances have all been negative and cowardly

Brighton have shown us that these excuses are not valid.

Yup exactly Pawl, Spurs roll over for Chelsea three times in January, and Brighton avoid defeat against Chelsea twice in a month. Very lame excuses.

Having said that no team will score that many own goals in three games, have two penalties overturned, and two perfectly good goals ruled out. You do need a bit of luck, and Chelsea over the three games had oddles of it.
