Hogwarts Legacy State of Play

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5FLKn5CLD4

Dunno if anyone else watched this or grew up reading the books, but this looks like it has potential to be great.

Excited that it looks to be a big map to explore and they look like they've got the feel of Hogwarts nailed.

Was trying not to get my hopes up when this was first leaked, but after seeing this and hearing the devs passion for it, it's hard not to get excited.

Looks interesting but the combat looks like it'll get stale quite quickly just standing around firing your wand.

Probably one where the side activities and exploration will be more fun to play than the actual story.

Hopefully it'll be worth the trade off. I think back to playing Red Dead 2 and the missions themselves weren't that interesting in terms of gameplay cos they mostly end up just being shootouts where you're superhuman, but I still sunk so much time into that game just exploring it and living the world. If we can get close to that with a HP world I'd be very happy

Not really a Harry Potter fan personally. But my daughter grew up on it. I remember queuing when the books came out so she could read them. And she is looking forward to this.

On a different note, anyone been to the Harry Potter Studio tour. As I said I'm not a Harry Potter fan, But it really is a good day out with the family. you get to see all the original sets, and you get a real behind the scenes look. Well worth it.

My mum used to do the same for me First time I would stay up all night reading a book. Fond memories.

And yeah the studio tour is a great day out.

Try Elden ring mate. You are far, far from superhuman in that game it’s brilliant and has spells that out potter to shame

I have Elden Ring on my radar, but I've still got a few games to complete before I can justify buying another one to gather dust right now

I'm a big fan of Harry Potter, the only game I recall playing though was Prizoner of Azkaban on PS2 and that was pretty good.

the set pieces look great , however the combat looks like it would get boring very quickly. I got bored watching the combat on the preview.

I suppose it depends on how big a part of the game the com at actually is.

Plenty of games don't particularly have great combat.

FFVII remake tended to suck apart from the major set piece battles.

Red Dead 2 wasn't great either.

Skyrim is another example where combat was incredibly boring, particularly after you hit a level where your character basically became invincible.

Yet all three are class games.

looking through the extended gameplay trailer, the combat seems to be a very large part of the game.

Skyrims combat at the time was nowhere near a bad as made out.

Combat in FF7 was excellent??

and you cannot compare the combat for a gun shooter to that of a spell casting mage

FF7 was great for boss battles, however walking down a patch and fighting a dog, time and time again soon got tedious, particularly if you were just hitting the energy with your sword cause you were saving mp.

Of course you can compare the two, both are ranged attack games.

Even now I just finished the Guardians of the Galaxy game and that gets a bit samey by the end, but it's still a fantastic game because of everything else going on.

I expect something similar to happen with this game, but if everything else is really great then I won't mind.
