Sorry to hear you’ve got Covid Dunge, but it may have been a blessing in disguise in that you didn’t have to watch the dross served up yesterday. Yes, we kept the ball and moved it about a lot but failed to penetrate the Villa defence. In fairness, Villa can hardly have been said to have been in any way adventurous and the time wasting tactics began precisely on 3 minutes and 37 seconds.

Schmeichel 6
Required only the odd regulation save, nothing outstanding. Distribution slightly improved.

Justin 6
Not really troubled. Fairly adventurous and got up the pitch a lot but to no great effect. Caught up the pitch once or twice when the opposition decided to have a go, which wasn’t very often.

Fofana 7
Reasonably assured and fairly aggressive. One seriously misplaced header and spun too easily by Watkins on one occasion.

Soyuncu 8
Another good performance, won most of his headers. Covered well for Fofana. You can see why Real Madrid might be interested.

Castagne 6
Quiet game, nothing outstanding, nothing to worry about. Linked well with Lookman and KDH.

Tielemans 6
Another game where he was less effective going forward than he would have liked, mainly because of the packed Villa defence and the lack of meaningful runs by the forward players. Industrious as ever; you can’t fault him for the effort he puts in.

Mendy 7
Another good performance. Gets about the pitch very well, nips things in the bud, never far away from the action.

Dewsbury-Hall 7
Settled into the side really well. Difficult to leave him out. Again very industrious, as creative as anyone and links very well with whoever is in his area of the pitch.

Maddison 6.5
Just a little bit lost out on the right and his effectiveness thereby reduced. Continues to work hard and was unfortunate that one of his special free kicks missed the left hand post by a whisker with Martinez apparently beaten.

Lookman 7
Fair to say I’m not his biggest fan because he rubs into trouble too much and loses possession. Not yesterday though. Possibly our most effective threat and replacing him with Barnes didn’t work out.

Daka 5
Not really his fault. Very little useful service although he is doubtless still learning how it all fits together. Had one opportunity to use his pace and have a shot but made a poor choice and passed instead to Lookman who had no chance to do anything with it. Suspect he may get loaned out to a progressive Championship team next season, unless he has a stupendous pre season.

Vardy 6
Had no service at all, but great to see him back

Barnes 4.5
No improvement on Lookman. Seems to have forgotten how to do what he is good at.

Perez n/a
Not on long enough to bake any sort of impact.

Generally speaking I wonder why Ricardo doesn’t get used in that problem right wing type position. That’s what he was before we made him into a wing back when we were playing 3 centre backs. When we go with just the two, I would have thought he would have been first choice before Lookman, Perez or Maddison.

You Missed Bodgers incompetence out, gave up on the League when we had every chance of Getting Europa.

Not sure about the .5 ratings OWF, but mostly agree with your assessment. Maybe 6 for Fofana, he started off uncharacteristically poorly.
