Summer of Upheaval?

With the season almost over, thoughts are turning to the summer. We seem to say this about every window, but this one in particular feels critical. We will find out if Daniel Levy has really changed his ways, how much influence Paratici, and after two mixed windows whether he is even any good, and the extent of the club's ambition in how they decide to back Conte.

A lot of turnover is required. At least 6 players must leave as a matter of urgency with 3 more likely for first team football. With an already underpowered squad I think we will need anywhere between 8-10 new signings. That's an incredibly high turnover but, both Paratici and Conte have a good record for this. During their 3 seasons at Juve over 45 new players were brought in to much success. Conte also oversaw a high staff turnover at Inter. That's a lot change, and we been burned in the past, but it can be done and the two guys we have at the helm at the moment have a good track record when it comes to this.

Thoughts?

I would be happy with 6 but we need 7 or 8 to challenge on all fronts.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Same I would be okay with six because my expectations are low, but I think in an ideal world 8 is a minimum.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
6 is low?????

I’m expecting 3, would be delighted with 4.

To be honest, if Haaland sticks around at City and stays fit, he's just as likely to break any record that Kane gets, soon after he breaks it.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

Let’s see, I think even he will be shocked by how much more difficult it is
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes I think similarly. I think he will return 15-20 goals in the PL next season. But I don’t think he will finish his career at City or even the PL.

Me either!

However if we get the same quality level as Kulu, Bentancur and Romero then I’ll be happy with 3/4!

We signed 7 in the Mourinho summer and five last year. Levy’s problem in the past has been less sanctioning signings and more sanctioning terrible ones and not strengthening the right areas when we have needed to. The latter could apply this time out but if Levy knows what’s good for him he’ll let Paratici do his job.

Thats the issue they would either be positions we don't need or not suitable for premier league, let's hope Levy stays out of it

Well without knowing where we'll finish we don't quite know who will go or who will stay, namely Kane. With CL football there is a good chance he stays, without it he might still stay but there's less chance. And if he goes then it greatly affects who we need in the summer and how our window pans out.

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Can’t see Kane leaving tbh. The city ship has sailed so who does it leave?
Chelsea No chance
Us Can’t see us dropping 100 million on a 29year old
United Unless it’s money no chance.

Maybe abroad but who?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I've said this before but if I was PSG and I'm about to lose Mbappe, or maybe even if I don't lose Mbappe, I'd make a big offer for Kane. Levy would be more willing to sell abroad, Poch if he stays would be up for bringing him in, and if I was Kane, I wouldn't turn the chance down when you'd get to play in that squad of players, guaranteed to win stuff and have more chance of the CL.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I don’t think Kane dreams of trousering Montpellier and winning the French league - May as well go to Celtic and win the SPL.

Besides I think he wants to stay in the Prem and break all the records - the only foriegn clubs that I think could turn his head are Real and Barca, but they do t seem interested.

Whatever he chooses I don’t think he will leave Spurs this summer, he can do one more year and then go if things have yet again ended trophyless
----------------------------------------------------------------------
But it's not like going to Celtic is it? You are genuine contenders to go far in the CL every season, and you'd get to play alongside the likes of Neymar and Messi, and play under Poch again. It's at least conceivable that Kane would consider that and pick up league titles in France over staying with Spurs, having far less chance of winning a trophy, and breaking a record, which isn't the certainty it was anymore. He could even come back to the PL in 3 years time and still try for that record if he wanted.
----------------------------------------------------------------------

I’m sorry but no, the French league holds no interest to Kane and getting to CL knockouts but ultimately failing is something he could do at Spurs or even Celtic or Ajax or Dortmund.

Messi and Neymar went for the money, Mbappe seems bored and wants to test himself. The French league is as dull as it gets, even a Poch looks fed up
----------------------------------------------------------------------
You're being naive if you think he wouldn't consider that, especially if we don't make CL. The guy has gone on record saying how he wants to win stuff and achieve what Messi and Ronaldo have achieved. PSG gives him a more realistic chance of that than Spurs probably ever will.

Like I say, he could come back to the PL after a few years and he'd still be 32/33 and able to carry on for a while. Levy could put a buy back clause in the contract too. I'm not saying he wouldn't decide to stick with us but knowing he wanted to leave last summer I think you should prepare yourself for the possibility.
