If we don’t win the PL…

Then we end up with the treble

But is there a case to say that being so close to the quad and playing every single game possible that we’d have won 3.5 trophies thus surpassing Utd, City & our 2001 campaign with the respected treble winning seasons?

Correction: it will be called a treble. All lower case.

THE TREBLE = The Premier League Title. Champions League. The FA Cup.

Pretty fair tbh.

There's only so many trebles possible.

League, fa cup league cup (city)
Fa cup, league cup, cl. (Never been done, but we have a chance)
League, league cup, cl (lfc 1984)
League, fa cup, cl (utd)
Fa cup, League cup, europa (lfc 2001)

And whatever else you like. Lfc could be the first treble treble side in England.

The best seasons in English football history are United ‘99 and Arsenal ‘04.

Those were truly iconic and maybe unrepeatable.

The PL powers-that-be actually commissioned a one-of-a-kind Gold PL trophy for us for goodness sake.

I’m happier with the 100 points in a season and the amount of goals we scored than I would be going a season unbeaten. Agree on it as the stand out achievement though.

Seeing as Man City count finishing second in division 2 and their CL runners up spot as ‘honours’, then I think you may have a point.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Do they?

If we do win the CL then I guess we become the most successful side in English history

All that is missing is the Audi Cup

99 sure but 04 no chance.

They drew almost a third of their matches. Points tally is the true barometer.

Oh please. World Club. That’s like over 2 different seasons. That don’t count.

they are very repeatable if FIFA continues allowing oil doping.

Lets just be clear: city have lost 3 games this season. 2 to spurs, 1 to palace. others have lost only 1.

The arsenal 2004 season did include semi finals in the league cup and fa cup and a QF appearance in CL. SO the no losses was infact something that was impressive due to the runs they had elsewhere that added a lot of games.

But.... city will eventually do this if they are left off to continue to spend unlimted funds. hell newcastle might do it if they are left off to do the same sportswashing.

Utd's treble is repeated across europe so theres nothing so special about the prem that will prevent city from winning that in the future as they continue to spend. The only difference is really spain is a 2 horse race and the cup is set up to favour the top clubs in europe. germany sn't even a compeititon for bayern.

Take LFC out of the equation long term and city have now no chelsea and a mess at utd so could easily pull a bayern on the prem.

We haven’t been allowed to spend unlimited funds though. That’s why United are still able to outspend us.

We won’t get the same level of points regularly when Guardiola leaves.

Real Madrid best not turn up then if it's set in stone that you're winning the Final.
