Lampard

Sorry if this has been covered but I couldn't see a relevant article....

I paid no attention to the Arsenal game yesterday as I only cared about our match. In fact I didn't even know who'd won the Premier League until later in the evening when it occured to me to check.

So I hear that Arsenal battered Everton 5-1 (their biggest win of the season I think, which made the fact that we did one better than them with our result on the same day all the sweeter), but apparently Lampard changed over half the team, dropping a number of key players.

Was this a blatant attempt to throw the game? Or have I missed something obvious???

Lampard is a fantastic manager

He took Derby from 6th to 6th.

Chelsea from 4th to 4th.

Now, Everton from 16th to 16th.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
That’s why substance matters. Everton we’re sinking without a trace. He kept them up. Chelsea had a transfer ban and lost their best ever player. Derby got to playoff final whilst integrating young loan players.

You mean context?

He replaced a manager that literally everyone at the club hated. He was gifted a job he wasn't qualified for. He looked good at a side spending way beyond their means.

3 seasons at arsenal and the best I can offer him is that they are improving, but if we had Conte all season we would be 10+ points clear of them. they are nowhere near us. only Nuno had us looking like we cant play football. mourinho, mason, and now Conte have all finished above him since he took the job, and for most of that time, Tottenham Hotspur has been an absolute circus on and off the pitch.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
To be fair he did win Arsenal a cup. We've had Mourinho and Conte for 2 years between them and no sign of one. This should definitely be the target for next season.

I'd rank lampard right up there with Jessie marcsh. Both didn't save anyone, just happened to be there.

needed another championship job after derby but couldnt turn down Chelsea but was wayyyyy too soon

hes just some PE teacher like Arteta,. these guys need to go and learn their trade and come back when they are ready
----------------------------------------------------------------------
He's not even in arteta's league. The only thing that kept Everton up was Pickford.
Derby is his level.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Lol, the only thing that kept Leeds up was Newcastle.

Lampard would have been the first to moan had clubs put out weakened teams out against Burnley and Leeds in the run in.

says a lot about Lampard and Everton. Rather than maintaining momentum and looking to end the season on a high, he virtually chucks the game. He probably barely coached them since securing safety, on the beach already. At least NUFC showed him what a professional and motivated team do on the last day of the season.
