THFC Summer Checklist

1. Finances
- Secure substantial extra funds to invest in the squad . Check

2. Contracts
- Get Conte to sign a new deal. Maybe 2 years +1 or 3 years.

- Give Harry Kane a new contract. 4 years taking him to 2026, aged 32

- Sign Romero up from his loan-to-buy deal. Gotta be a 5 year deal, he looks a class act and is only 23.

3. Signings
- New reserve goalkeeper. Preferably Home Grown to help our quota

- New LCB. Imposing and comfortable on the ball. Able to play central CB if required

- New RWB. Probably to act as competition for Doherty, and replacing Emerson.

- New CM. Need a ball player to offer a bit more creativity and to provide cover & competition for Bentancur

- New CM to provide more energy & dynamism in the middle of the park, to challenge PEH/Skipp for the starting role.

- New Forward. Someone capable of playing across the front line, offering genuine competition and cover for any of the front 3.

subject to other disposals
- Replacement LWB if Reguillon is sold
- Another CB if Sanchez is sold

4. Disposals
- Sell or loan the following - Winks, Rodon, Emerson, Begwijn, GLC, NDombele (if any fecker will take him). May be sell Lucas too, subject to Gil (see below)

5. Fringe
- Assess pre-season & make a decision on whether to keep, loan or sell - Gil & Sarr

6. Season 2022/23
- Begin the season with the major signings done & involved in pre-season

Plenty to get done !! Anything I've missed ?

Will revisit this list over the summer to check progress & we can then, come August, make an assessment of the success, or otherwise, of our summer dealings.

You have 26 positions there Billy. You can have a max of 25.

I would take the 2 AM's out and instead have a utility wing back.

The reality checklist;

1. Refuse to spend money which leads on to …
2. Replace conte when he walks
3. Replace kane who will go to chelsea/Utd

----------------------------------------------------------------------

How lovely of you to share the desperate prayer you utter to yourself each night as you lie in bed,
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was looking at this thinking it would have been easier to just write I’m worried Tottenham are going to pull away from us further next season

United are a massive club but an utter shat show of a team / squad and it will take the new guy over a season to sort it out (if he is even as good as they hope he is)
----------------------------------------------------------------------
that’s a reaction.

Fully agree though- we are awful and I expect you’ll be better than us next season. Actually half expect ETH to be fired after 2 seasons and poch to come in to repeat the endless cycle of shiiiit at Utd
----------------------------------------------------------------------
😂 yeah I did react with Dev but surely that’s what you were after so mission accomplished 😂

I think you have the right man at the wrong time ….the ship needed a bigger steady first but you never know ….Ten Hag could be the new Klopp , which is what you need but the fans have got to stay patient for at least next season ….so many rotten apples to Chuck out and their wages are huge so it’s not as if they will all willingly go

As much as I love Poch he wouldn’t be the right man for United ….it’s too big for him ….PSG seems like it’s swallowed him up at times and United are twice the size

I must be the only Tottenham fan who is happy with our wing backs

I think people are writing off Emerson to soon ….he has got better and better as the season progressed …he could still get better with his delivery …he is only young

Doherty is good enough as he has shown now

Sessgnon is also steadily getting better and I have high hopes for him and Reggie is also young and dynamic

Don’t get me wrong I would like the next Rose and Walker but what we have is good enough and I’d rather funds went into top class defender(s) / midfielder (with Eriksen) and a top class wide forward who can play central (Jesus)

That will cost us enough
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I agree wit that apart but I think if I try to dig a little deeper, there's an element of sentiment there for me

For example, Emerson is decent at defending, not as great going forward, but I trust him in our team and don't flinch like I used to with Aurier whenever the ball he's defending close to our goal. He doesn't seem to dive in, he's not clumsy or rash.

Reguillon is a funny one. Everything about him tells me he should be THE perfect wingback for us. But he just doesn't excel at anything. He had that one spell when he first joined us (starting with Chelsea in the cup) where he just seemed to be an engine, back and forth, but I just don't feel like we miss him at all when he isn't there.

Doherty's form took a huge incline before his injury, and one could argue that that was him settling into his preferred system which is the way Conte likes to play. If he continued with that form, then I can't see that we'd be overly desperate for a right back.

Sess, whilst again, he's improved and shown in the bigger games he can be counted on, his injury record is just offensive, and if we were to put all our eggs in his basket, I fear we'd be caught very short very quickly.

Whilst I don't think any of them are terrible, I do think that if you brought in a ready-made replacement in Kostic or someone of that calibre, you would see and notice the difference immediately.

I think we only need 1 CM tbh

New CM, Bentancur, PEH, Skipp should be enough
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Keen to see Sarr in the squad also. We will need numbers next year

I noticed something new with Emerson...he's starting to tuck into midfield to create an extra man. It's confusing opposition and creating space for Kulu. We may have found a way to use Emerson effectively.

I think he's just been told by Conte:

"For the love of god, don't go forward... Just find somewhere else on the pitch to wait out the attack but do not go forward"

Good point’s especially on the injury front

Like I say I wouldn’t be against top class wingbacks coming in but I think the squad had bigger priorities

If Emerson keeps improving and Doherty maintains form (has shown just as good on the left) then I think we are covered

Unless we are lining up superstars to replace them I’m happy with our options

In fact I never thought I’d say this but Reggie seems the wink link as like you put he doesn’t excel at anything ….has a great engine though ….he is young and perhaps Conte can get more out of him too but it’s damming for him that even when fit Sessgnon plays

The main important thing….

Levy has to spend all that new investment on the field and not on hotels ✅

Indeed, ending up more central. He tucks in, Kulu goes wide and the RCB (sanchez recently) and RCM (often PEH) offering support if Kulu needs to play it backwards.

Doherty was beginning to do the same thing....and it just makes you think that if that RWB was a real top quality player what a dangerous player they would be going forward if given this freedom. Think Jed Spence would fit the bill real nice, he is great going forward...a lot to learn but very attacking, quick and skilful

It is a shame, think Reggie just suits a RB role more as he's a good balanced FB, whereas wing backs almost need to be either specialist or converted wingers because they are expected to become an attacker/winger in the final third.

This wingback position is the only minor concern for me in that its a very specific player for the position, in a formation that few teams play. IF Conte were to leave any time in the future, we could be left with 4 wing backs who dont convert to full backs too well and need replacing...selling them in a market which doesnt demand wing backs too much . A distant worry but if our long term approach with a DoF is to build a squad that largely transcends a change in management then wing backs are a worry....so basically, lets not over pay in this area.
