Billy Gilmour is going to be great

It seems that many Chelsea fans are writing off Gilmour after what was a poor loan at Norwich. Personally I'm not going to judge Billy too harshly playing in a poor team that didn't particularly suit his style of play or help him evolve as a player.

Gilmour is a player who thrives with the ball at his feet in a team that has a decent amount of possession. Norwich are not that team at all and they get battered by most PL teams whenever they get promoted.

It seems that because of this loan the consensus among many fans is that Gilmour isn't very good and isn't Chelsea standard etc. I beg to differ, I still think he's a top class player who will undoubtedly shine in the right team. And I think any of our midfielders would have looked crap if they'd played for Norwich this season.

I also believe that if we don't play Gilmour and establish him as a Chelsea player he'll go on to have great success elsewhere. And as far fetched as this might sound right now don't discount Gilmour turning up as a Liverpool or City player in the future and making us look stupid, just like KDB and Salah have done.

Just ask Norwich fans opinion of Gilmour compared to Skipp who they had on loan the season before and it will tell you all you need to know

Different players from what I’ve seen gilmour has a far higher ceiling, skipp is more the sort of clogger they need rather than a clever technician. Norwich is an awful fit for that sort of player.

You mean in the Championship before they tried stepping up a level!

Gutted that we've sold Gilmour with no buyback clause. What an epic mistake in my opinion. As long as he gets gametime at Brighton he'll do great and eventually get all the top clubs interested, probably ends up at somewhere like Liverpool. Will be like KDB or Salah all over again I fear.

Yeah, completely baffling, we've spent a combined total of approximately £23m more on Casadei and Chukwuemeka, that have done nothing to warrant there signings, whilst letting Gilmour go for peanuts!

It seems the club learn nothing from previous mistakes!

Or maybe Gilmour isn't that good and all that hype was unjustified?

It does feel that way Brum. As I said I have a horrible feeling this will turn out to be a mistake of Salah/KDB proportions.

I doubt he has a ceiling of KDB or Salah but as much as I find the criticism of Jorginho over the top, I do think Billy moves the ball much quicker and more positively than he does, thus I think we could have allowed Jorg to go back to Italy this window and kept Gilmour!

Yeah we could have so easily kept Gilmour in the squad and played him instead of Jorginho who's been crap so far this season.

Especially as Jorginho is 31 this season and Gilmour has years in front of him!
