Niko Krancjar

Nice to see one of our former Croatian favourites Niko Krancjar commenting on Peresic joining us. If you go onto the link, it makes very interesting reading indeed👍

Kranjcar on Perisic: “An all-round player that really doesn’t have much of a weakness" | Tottenham Hotspur There are perhaps not many better people to ask for insight on our latest recruit Ivan Perisic than his former international team-mate and former Spur Niko Kranjcar. https://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/2022/june/kranjcar-on-perisic-an-all-round-player-that-really-doesn-t-have-much-of-a-weakness/

Whilst on the subject of former favourites, I would like to give my views on Bale rejoining next season.
Personally I think it would actually be a retrograde move by the club, if we did sign him.

Firstly I do not think Conte’s methods and high intensity training would suit Bale. He is also a bit shy of the pace he used to have and therefore is not as explosive as he used to be.
I could only see him as an impact substitute which I don’t think he would be happy with, with Qatar in November.

He possibly should join Cardiff, where he will be the kingpin of the team, which he definitely is not with us anymore.

He was harbouring thoughts of retiring if Wales did not qualify, so I can see him definitely retiring if they go out of the WC early.

At Cardiff, he should be able to pick and choose his game time to his advantage whilst getting much needed match practise leading up to November.
Just my humble opinion🤔😳

Yea i saw that piece yesterday, Niko is an articulate guy and knows about the game - his dad is a coach and ex player.

I totally agree with what he says, Perisic is ready to go and i am quitely confident that he will be one of our best players next season. The difference to our left wing and overally dynamic will be night n day.

No thanks to bale - he is still a quality player but too expensive and doesn't fit the current style of play. Also his appetite doesn't seem to be in the right place, but it could all be tabloid talk

Nice read from Niko. I feel like Perisic has almost been forgotten about already with his quick it was done and all the other rumours flying about. Hopefully he has a big impact on our season.

Bale? Meh. Links to Cardiff go to show how motivated he is these days. Fair enough to him, he's achieved everything he could've dreamed of doing in football. We move on.

Yeah Bale is clearly winding down now, he will throw everything at the World Cup in the winter, then retire either after it or next summer

first of all im not saying Perisic falls into this category but just to touch on the "allround player"

they say these guys dont really have any weaknesses, surely thats also the same as saying he doesnt really have any strengths !! just something iv always thought !

Some footballers miss playing football desperately when they retire but Bale seems to be one who won't be that bothered. He'll miss playing for Wales but at club level probably not. With his finishing and dead ball skills he could easily play to 35/36 at a decent level even if he totally loses his pace. MLS is surely an option, coast for a few years on a big salary in the sunshine.

Loads of top sides have those type of versatile players though - City = Zinchenko and Fernandinho, Liverpool = Milner, Bayern had Lahm. SAF used to love a versatile player.

And he can't run around for more than about 70 minutes. Not much use in the PL where fitness is a must.
