Darwin Nunez, Its Happening

80 million Euro's just over £68 million quid.

Excellent player and could be the Mane replacement we're looking for

He looked good against us, he's young, got pace, got tekkers( for Robbing) and scores goals.

A great platform to build from

Any thoughts on this player

I just can't see us playing a midfield two though, it would require and incredible amount of work for the ten defensively I reckon.

And you’d need to change the way you use your fullbacks.

Yep, we'd get smashed otherwise. The more I think about it the more I reckon he'll play 9 mostly, sometimes left and hopefully he'll be a right handful and there'll be no 4-2-3-1.

You’d have to play like Flick’s Bayern. Would be funny to see in the prem.

I just can’t see him dropping in to play deeper than the wing forwards like Firmino, or latterly at times Mane. You’d just tuck in closer to him than you can with Mane, for example, and pressure him off the ball or into a mistake.

He is good running in behind, but tis trickier doing that if you aren’t the most agile player and you’re playing against a well-organised, deeper line, as Liverpool will be most weeks (and Benfica assuredly aren’t). Haaland can deal with that by physically bullying CBs. Despite his size, Nunez doesn’t really do that.

Would make more sense to me giving him the kind of room he likes to work in, on the half turn or over the top, and from where he can use his pace to run at people or in behind.

Otherwise, as suggested, Klopp is changing things up probably to shift more of the burden in linking play onto what I guess would look more like inside forwards going forwards.

At Dortmund Klopp played with Gundogan and Bender as the double pivot and Pisczek and Schmelzer higher up the pitch. Their number 10 was Gotze and he wasn't that physical. I think we have the players to play 4231 if Nunez signs.

He’ll obviously have to work on certain parts of his game and the forwards would interact differently with one another - this happens with Jota and Origi.

I don’t see the issue, Klopp’s proven over and over that he can take a player that isn’t familiar with certain ways of playing and get them to adapt.

I don't know why peoepl get convinced that cos a lad is "tall" that means LFC are about to change everything to lump the ball at him or something.

This is a 22 year old with bags of pace who can play central or on the left.

Selling minamino and mane to enable this and putting a rather smaller sum down that would otherwise be needed seems decent business.

He has an extremely high work ethic, pace and is a young player, with a great future.

He seems ideal and he will be afforded to the time to reach his potential. We've seen our manager take his time with some players and this potential purchase won't be any different. We aren't buying the finished article. We rarely do.
