Chelsea owners

In Barcelona tonight for transfer talks.

This might not end well for us as it pertains to the De Jong deal.

Could be rather embarrassing for United if he joins Chelsea instead after claiming he wants to stay in Barcelona

I don’t really get this “embarrassing” stuff… Chelsea are a big draw. We’ve done it a hundred times in our past and had it done to us even when we were in our pomp.

At this stage FDJ would be crazy to state that he doesn't want to stay at Barca if we are to believe the financial situation.

Is the story about owed wages reliable/true? If so then I’d say it’s not necessarily another Di Maria.

As for Chelsea if they’re in as we are, I wouldn’t blame him for joining them over us at all. Only thing I can think of that we have over them (from his perspective) is ETH. Would that be enough? I wouldn’t bet on it.

Overall, not fussed. As Keano says - we need characters and that includes people who really WANT to join us. It’s a MAHOOOSIVE challenge/gamble but the squad members that do, at some point, get us back challenging and eventually winning again will be instant legends.

If we won proper stuff 3-5 years post Fergie it wouldn’t mean as much as it would now / 5 years from now. I want players that are confident enough to think ‘yeah I can be the catalyst to bring that monster club back to glory’.

We’ve either had people with the right attitude but not enough talent or people with enough talent but not the right attitude. We need 3-4 players with both; they don’t need to be current superstars but make themselves that.

Look at some of our best players in premier league history:
Gnev
Becks
Scholes
Giggs
Keane
Cantona
Rooney
Ronaldo
RvN
Stam
Rio
Evra
Irwin
VDS
Schmeichel
Cole
Yorke
Teddy
Pally
Ince

And the squad players like O’Shea & Butty

And more of course….

Not all of them were readymade/current winners. We need a group for people to join, respect, work bloody hard and perform. We don’t currently have enough players that new players instantly respect and fear and look up to. Look at city & Liverpool - they’ve got that.

Not to change to Ronaldo but this is also why I support him being here (unless he doesn’t want to) because he and possibly De Gea are the only players that ANY other player could come in and be in awe of.

We need hunger, desire and talent. That’s what Fergie was really good at, getting them all up for it week in, week out, season after season. We were (Fergie was) unbelievably lucky with our class of 92, that helped us so, so much. Putting something similar together is very hard but not impossible; Pep & Klopp have done it and it’s not ALL superstars. The hard graft & the talent has got them to where they are and where we were under Fergie. Anyone that is out of line needs to be gone, no questions, no new contract BYE. Until we have that authoritative set up backing the manager, all we will get is too much player power and mercenaries taking their wages.

It will end well for us if he signs for Chelsea. He doesn't want to play for us, so it's better if he plays for them.
Let's sign Tielsman instead.

You're really digging in to this 'De Jong doesn't want to play for United' interpretation, aren't you, 52?

We know he has been reluctant to leave Barcelona. But we've also had multiple reports that he has warmed to the idea of playing for his old manager at United, and most recently reports that he is talking daily to Ten Hag and that the delay in concluding the deal is Barcelona's refusal to make good on deferred wages.

Despite all the noises, FDJ's advisors will have known that Barca want to / need to cash in on him this summer. So it could be that his statements of wanting to stay have been crafted to put pressure on Barcelona to make a reasonable offer.

There's a lot of speculation flying around. I don't know the true picture. I definitely don't think we have evidence to support the view that Frenkie doesn't want to join us.

I hope you are right RR, and probably are, it's just a hunch I have. I don't read social media, except 606,or the gossip columns, so I only say it because of the length of time, and I haven't seen anywhere where he would like to join us.
But in reality I know nothing and am guessing.

They’re sorting out deals for Alonso and Azpi.

Surely the buying club would travel?

I suspect FDJ will likely forfeit any money owing to him if he say he wants to leave and join United. Which is why he said what he said.

Shouldn't be like that though. It's not as if it's a loyalty bonus he'd be waiving.

Cant expect him to walk away from £17m.

Hopefully, as the window goes on, we can come to some agreement between Barca, United and the player.

It's Barca. They prob can't afford the transportation costs

Probably about Alonso and Azpi

Hopefully about big Todd wanting to crack a few heads at that mess of a club
