If ETH walks away..

Would you blame him? Assuming no more signing are made and United go into the new season with pretty much the first XI which was smashed by Brighton 4-0 not to long back.

Would any of the fans blame him for just saying you know what the club is a joke and I would rather just walk away?

but you're not (apparently anyway) helping this manager spend it in the right way. Backing someone who's committed to making a mistake is not helping them..

….

WTF are you blabbering on about?

…….

I mean, yeah have your first choices of course. But you're always better with a considered second or third choice than a last minute panic buy or just no one. Which honestly seems like a real possibility at this point. Which really shouldn't be happening to a club of your size.
…….

You are making assumptions here that we don’t have back up players to target.

And with there being 28 days left in the window I would not jump the gun on drawing ill thought out conclusions.

Football management is over-rated. It is just a management job. The same as you have in every other working environment at every level, many of which are harder than managing a football team. A football team manager nowadays has a cohort of staff working under him. If the team has a success he is only the figurehead who takes the accolades and rarely mentions the others who have done the real work.

Not sure what you're struggling to understand? The mistake being getting stuck on one player and risking a panic buy or no signing at all rather than moving on to alternatives. The reason I've made that assumption is that you haven't moved on. Unless there's other negotiations going on for the FdJ position you're aware of that I've missed? Or are you just assuming..?

Yeah you're both right, there's 28 days left. Which judging by your progress so far might yield a player. How about we revisit this in September so none of us have to assume anything eh?

Your point. You don’t have one. You are making an assumption we are stuck with one player.

I've explained it several times. Not my fault you don't understand at this point. You're beating me with experience here is all.

The trouble is your explanations are made on assumptions on your part of what our manager is doing recruiting wise.

Therefore they are moot.

I don't really get this. You are suggesting that we should move onto to other targets that don't fit as well as our main target, so that we don't end up panic buying a player that doesn't fit as well as our main target.

What I'm suggesting is a normal transfer policy. You identify a position that needs strengthening and draw up a shortlist of players that could fill it. If the first one on your list doesn't want to move or the club don't want to sell or they get injured or whatever, you move onto the next.

Don't mean to patronize you, but I really shouldn't have to explain what every club has done in like, forever. Unless maybe there's something unique about United and this player I'm missing?
