So Boring

Probably not the optimum time for this as the last 10 minutes of that match were pretty entertaining, but in general I can't recall us being as boring as we are now?

This isn't a criticism of Tuchel, his job is to win football matches as he sees fit & entertainment value is secondary, or even the players as the style of football they're being asked to play is very structured & limiting, but good god we've been an eye sore for a long time now. Certain opposition are exempt, Liverpool get great games out of us as an example, so do Spurs to a lesser extent, but on the whole it's so damn boring.

So Chelsea this. We go out of our way to appoint managers (our last three specifically) who value football as a spectacle for fans to enjoy watching, had three different philosophies on how to approach this, and bar the first few months of Lampard's run, we've becoming more pragmatic & regimented than we were when we hired managers who valued those aspects of football - except now we're slowly losing the 'win or die' attitude that complements it.

Just goes to show the value of club identity. So many teams don't have one, or had one & lost it when they attempted to change. But Chelsea, we have one that's so strong it refuses to adapt no matter how much we try to fight it. Unbelievable

West Ham are a notoriously deep block team and we do lack creativity and genu8ne goal scorers. I was hoping we would have gone for Ericksen but alas no.

We're too cautious, too slow playing out from the back. When Broja came on, he gave us a focal point and gave the nine West Ham defenders someone to worry about in the box. Pulisic is poor, takes too many touches. I'm not sure about Gallagher either, a bit lightweight. Cucurella is a good player, but he doesn't stretch defences, doesn't get in behind, it's no accident that we improved when Chilwell came on. If our width is to come from our full backs, they have to stretch the game and provide crosses. Sterling was the only one of our players who looked interested in playing quickly and between the lines before the substitutions. Loftus Cheek is an upgrade on Jorginho, who caused no end of defensive problems when he came on.

we have really missed kante to some extent but especially Kovacic as he is so great at breaking through defensive barriers with his jinking runs, slow start for him today but great hes back.
