Looks to be a stunning deadline day for Leicester City guys with the £3m back up right back likely to be the only signing we make
Clearly once again the club have been hamstrung by their own appalling mismanagement of PSR which continues to be compounded by every poor signing on high wages that continues to be made.
It looks increasingly like neither Top nor Rudkin has any plan to address the situation we’re in. Rather than any sense of strategic purpose that seemingly accompanied the Maresca appointment (even if some of us felt like it wasn’t a sustainable direction) - what we now have is panic decision followed by another panic decision
- Hire Cooper
- Sign his 2nd rate targets (Ayew, BCR, Skipp),
- Pay over the odds in wages and fees
- Fire Cooper
- Hire RVN
- Try and sell the poor signings we made last time to make enough for new signings
- Get Relegated
- Rinse and Repeat
This is just an unholy mess isn’t it?
Deadline Day Excitement!

Yeah - I can’t think of another club that’s this badly run.

It's not good. Still we have an hour or so, enough perhaps for Rudders to pull one of his 14 seconds late specials out of the hat.
Speaking of our esteemed DoF by the way, have you seen this astonishing article by TCF?

Unbelievable! What an absolute farrago of nonsense. Director of football my ears (anag). Couldn’t direct traffic in a one way street.

TCF is probably one of the worst fan based journalism you could ever read. Infact the English is so poor you can barely read it at all
I don’t know who he is but he’s absolutely zero knowledge about the club he supposedly supports as evidenced by the fact that he single handedly credits Rudkin for turning a profit on players he neither identified or scouted.
I’m pretty sure if Steve Walsh did all the work discovering Kante while I was DoF I’d be pretty convinced I could turn that £5m into a tidy profit. Wouldn’t really be evidencing my business acumen would it?

By the looks of things they are from Scandinavia, so I'll forgive them the odd grammatical mishap!
The reporting/articles tend to be supportive but not for the Everton 'performance', the players got absolutely (and correctly) slated.

I get the feeling with Rudders that he inherited a pretty well run ship which didn't need much doing to it so was able to bask in the glory of the successful years. The problems appear to have come when he had to start making more challenging decisions.

Yes. -but exactly the same could be said of Top.
While Rudkin is the chief architect of our issues, Top is far more hands on with some of the decision making than I reckon we give him credit for
The decision to sack Cooper was apparently Tops. He took full control of the RVN appointment. He even gave the players a dressing down in person. That signals a bit of a change from the Rodgers days.
Top is very much making the final call and worryingly - he’s even worse than Rudkin at getting it right

It is a worry. I'm not trying to let Top off the hook by the way, even if Rudders were making all these poor decisions it's still down to Top keeping him in place.
It's particularly galling to see this illustrated so blindingly obviously at the weekend, where a team led by Moyes, supposedly also in the relegation mire, thrashes us. Everton weren't so stupid as our lot, they took the pragmatic approach of bringing him back in to ensure that they are still in the Premier League when they move to their new stadium; getting back to challenging at the top end of the league can wait until they stabilise following these major changes.

So in the transfer window we have managed to fill the chasm at RB, so well done for that (assuming Woyo actually proves to be slightly competent).
What about the gulf at CB? I see we've recalled Harry Souttar, although that's because he is long term injured so no use there.
We've also managed to get rid of two players permanently who would have been very useful next season - Cannon and Hamza. Are our management and owners that deluded that they are not preparing for what is becoming increasingly likely, that we will be getting more games for our season tickets as we try and stay out of League 1?

Couldn’t agree more Nuneaton about Cannon. Got to be more use than both Edouard and Daka. Choudhury is only a loan deal though at this stage.
