Today marks 40 years since the first Episode of EastEnders was broadcast in 1985. When 'Dirty' Den Watts, Arthur Fowler and Ali Osman discovered Reg Cox's dead body.
What memories of EastEnders do you have over the years? Den getting shot? Sharongate? Frank standing at Pat's door naked with just a bowtie on? Wellard biting Ian Beale and almost getting put down for it? Den/Cindy/Kathy coming back from the dead? Bradley falling off the roof? 'Nasty' Nick Cotton's repeated attempts at poisoning his mother Dot? Barry pushed off a cliff by Janine? Phil Mitchell burning down the Queen Vic whilst on crack?
Favourite male character: Den Watts with honourable mentions to Grant Mitchell, Steve Owen, David Wicks, Frank Butcher and Nick Cotton
Favourite female character: Pauline Fowler with honourable mentions to Shirley Carter, Peggy Mitchell, Aunt Sal, Pat Butcher and Dot Cotton
Most underrated character: Jake Moon with honourable mentions to Beppe DeMarco, Paul Trueman, Derek Harkinson and Matthew Rose
Favourite moment: Den coming back from the dead with honourable mentions to Den's murder by his wife Chrissie, Mitchell brothers return in 2005, Trevor Morgan dying in a house fire, Dennis Rickman beating up Johnny Allen, Mitchell brothers driving a car into the River Thames.
Or do many of you just think EastEnders is a load of old tripe?
The 40th anniversary episode of EastEnders is on BBC One tonight at 19:30.

It sounds like it is filmed inside a galvanised steel garbage can

Worst programme ever, what’s entertaining about a load of cockneys shouting and screaming for 30 mins

Used to watch when I was younger and more impressionable. Now think it's a load of tosh.
I always find it funny how for the size of the show, the actors from EastEnders never seem to go on to bigger and better acting gigs, unlike say Neighbours, with the likes of Margot Robbie, Guy Pearce, Russell Crowe and probably some others.

A live theatre special? That could work, but they would need to film it and give audiences a chance to know what happened for continuity. I was thinking an episode like that film 1917, one continuous shot, how does that sound?

Not watched in years, but the most memorable moment was Bradley finding out Stacey slept with his dad on Christmas. Even my uncle, who pretended he was too cool to watch such things, said "oh Bradley".

Not seen it for 20 odd years.
Went down hill after the glory days of the 90s.
