I'm sorry but I struggle to understand why some people call Darts a sport.
Definition of sport: "An activity involving physical exertion and skill in which an individual or team competes against another or others"
As far as I can tell, the only exertion in Darts comes from lifting one's beer mug 10 inches above the table. Darts, in my opinion, is no more a sport than trimming one's toenails.
On the other hand, Darts can be considered a competitive recreational activity where individuals or teams compete against one another, using a basic framework of rules.....i.e. a game.
Is Darts a sport?

Standing still and throwing something weighing less than a cushion is not a sport, its a passtime albeit a popular one.

I remember debating on old 606 numerous times on this topic and many people have strong opinions on whether darts is a sport or not.
While I respect opinions, darts was first recognised as a sport by the UK Sport Council in 2003, and Sports England in 2005.
In 2007 darts was unanimously accepted as a full member of the General Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) - now SportAccord.
In fact as a prerequisite to be considered as a guest sport at the Olympics 2012, darts already had to be officially recognised as a sport.
Darts is also recognised as a sport by 67 nations across the six continents of Africa, Asia, Australia, Europe, North and South America, and over 90% of the 67 countries who are members of the World Dart Federation have their countries government's sports authorities recognising darts as a sport.
But why should personal opinion get in the way of factual evidence.

Depends in which country you are in. Some countries governments officially recognise snooker as a sport, and some do not.
For example in China over 50 million people play snooker and it is the 3rd largest sport behind basketball and table tennis, and it is officially recognised as a sport.
However in Antarctica – not so much…
