Thomas Leuluai

I thought that I had put this on here yesterday, but I must have failed to publish.

New Zealand Warriors announced yesterday that they had signed Tommy Leuluai on a 3 year contract commencing at the start of the 2013 season.
This means that Tommy will see out the remaining 1 year on his contract,he will have served Wigan well for 5 years having signed for the club in 2007.

Prior to this he did 2/3 seasons with the London Bronchos and he now says that it is time to return to the NZ Warriors.

All I would like to say is thanks Tommy, you served the club well, allways giving 100% and allways coming across as a very nice guy.
On the Cherry and White Site the comments are the same (from not only Wigan fans) that you have been a credit to the game and the club.

I would like to see all the New zealand warriors players be Kiwis. As i would the Catalan Dragons team be French.

It looks South's are going to have to lift there offer for a good No.7.....

* first it was Cooper Cronk we were chasing, but he appears to be staying with Melbourne.

* then it was rumoured South's were after the troubled Todd Carney, thank goodness he signed with the Cronulla Sharks.

* apparently Maquire had talks with Sam Tompkins on behalf of South's but that was quickly squashed with Sam re-signing with Wigan.

* So that leaves on 2 quality No.7's left available for 2013...Leuluai & Maloney from the N-Z Warriors.

* with Leuluai now going to the Warriors it leaves just Maloney and rumour has it the Roosters are also in the hunt for Maloney's services so it appears South's will have to let someone else go in order to raise the antie to fit Maloney in under the salary cap and more then likely be forced to pay overs..$$$$

The best scenario for my mob South's would be our local junior Adam Reynolds who has been killing them in junior football over the last 2 seasons can manage the rise to 1st grade NRL standards....some say he is a moral to fill in for Chris Sandow who has switched to Parramatta chasing the mighty dollar (good on him) if young Reynolds can get a conbination going with Sutton & Inglis down the left side then it goes a long way towards saving South's from off-loading a bucket load of cash for the last man standing Maloney...Reynolds has got 2012 to prove he has got what it takes....cheers

Going by your logic, I would like to see all the other 15 NRL teams only have player that to come from their State. That would mean Melbourne Storm wouldn't have the likes of Smith, Slater and Cronk.

Or how about the Aussie teams only have Aussie players and no Kiwis, if the Warriors are only allowed Kiwis. That would mean no Benji, Foran, Blair etc

jono......, I can go back a fair bit but not as far as the days when if you played for Easts, South's Wests etc. you had to of come from that district......that's way back in the 20's 30's
In the end I think it was something similar to a restraint of trade that eventually seen it come to an end.

But even back to the 50's & 60's it was unusual for a player to grow up in one area and play for another, the crowd frowned against that player for years.
If you look back at old footage of the 50's 60's the grounds were packed to capacity, especially the Sat. match of the round at the Sydney Cricket Ground....50+ thousand. I personally put the good crowds down to fact nearly every player came from the local area and someone knew someone who was playing....

Unfortunately the mighty dollar/pound came into a game about then and it soon became a dog eat dog to see who can squeeze as much out of a club as he can....

So a bloke born in Redfern today had better get comfortable playing along side blokes from Hawkes Bay or PNG from here on end...
